A sport utility vehicle (SUV) is a generic marketing description for a vehicle similar to a station wagon but built on a light-truck chassis.[1] Usually equipped with four-wheel drive for on or off-road ability, some SUVs include the towing capacity of a pickup truck with the passenger-carrying space of a minivan. SUVs are considered light trucks and often share the same platforms of pickups and thus are regulated less stringently than passenger cars under two major laws in the U.S.-the Energy Policy and Conservation Act for fuel economy standards, and the Clean Air Act for emissions standards

that quote says so, so why not - i am not inclined to tell you otherwise, just to say that I have never heard of an SUV referred to as a truck

Last 4 vehicles:

2005 Toyota Tundra
1997 GMC Sierra
1989 Mazda pick up
1980 El Camino

The Sierra & Tundra ride really well. Gas mileage was only good on highway trips and then not exceptional.

HERE...a "truck" has to have more than 4 wheels.....anything else is a 4WD.

I always get confused when you guys talk about your "trucks"

You'd get a Croc Dundee style response here if you called your 4wd a "truck"

oh...and you need a special licence to drive one...(a truck that is)

I have no idea about ford escape, perhaps a picture would help. Is it 800 cc?? Is it run on petrol or diesel??
Does it have telescopic shockups?? How many valves?? connecting rods??

You need a special licence to drive a pick-up truck? A half ton is a truck and you don't need a special licence to drive that.

No...to drive a real truck....you guys are NOT driving what we call trucks...coz if you were, you would need a special licence.

A half ton is NOT classed as a truck here.
