Default The lil' one is at it again
In the decisions of the World Council meeting earlier this month, it was noted that despite the Brackley-based team simply requesting a name-change, Brawn would in fact be considered a 'new entry' for this season.

"The contract the team had with the FIA was to run as 'Honda', which they are no longer in a position to do," the FIA said.

Outwardly, the technicality has resulted in Brawn shifting to the very bottom of the pitlane, and being assigned the lowest race numbers for 2009.

But we noted last week that new teams usually must wait to receive full revenue entitlements according to F1's commercial agreements.

It is on this point that the Swiss specialist publication Motorsport Aktuell expresses concerns about the survival of the Mercedes-powered team. It claims that Brawn could not simply change its name to Brawn, therefore keeping Honda's financial status, because while the teams unanimously agreed, Bernie Ecclestone exercised his veto.

Brawn is therefore missing about 22 million (euro) of its projected 2009 budget, in a state of affairs that could date back to a news item in February. Link to original article: http://en.f1-live.com/f1/en/headline...25074629.shtml

So he is taking revenge because they didn't sell him a stake in the team!

How much lower can he go?!

Yep, I read this earlier and just rolled my eyes.

F1 is a very sick puppy at the moment and cannot continue with these two vindictive, dangerous b**tards running the FIA and FOM.

With each day that passes now, they sink to lower depths.

Yeah I wondered what was going on with the Brawn number change. For example Stewart->Jaguar->Red Bull and Jordan->Midland->Spyker->Force Whatever kept their team numbers and various status when the teams changed identity. Typical Bernie I guess.

I tend to think that either first pit or last pit is better anyway because you either get to drive straight in, or floor it straight out of the lane. But i understand the problem is actually to do with where they get to put all their corporate hospitality stuff at the european rounds, because if your shoved down the back then obviously you don't get the prime positions for your corporate tents and motorhomes etc...

OK, so now Force India (quite rightly, IMO) have stepped in and said the last minute change is out of order since they'd already created promotional info etc. around using numbers 20 and 21. So instead of just being sensible and putting it back to how it was, they've given Brawn 22 and 23! You do get the feeling someone is going out of their way to put them in their place...

Bernie is evil and is just spitting hatred. I am disgusted, I hope that Brawn survives and wins the race.

The FIA has revised the Formula 1 entry list once again after Force India pushed to get its old race numbers back.
Motor racing's governing body had issued a revised entry list last week because of Brawn GP becoming a new team, and designated Force India with Honda Racing's old 18 and 19 numbers, and Brawn GP getting 20 and 21.
However, Force India wanted to get its former 20 and 21 numbers back because all its pre-season promotional material and merchandise had been based around them.
With Brawn GP not objecting to sacrificing those numbers, Force India now has 20/21, while Brawn GP will get 22 and 23. There will be no car numbers 18 and 19.

20 Adrian SUTIL (D) FORCE INDIA F1 TEAM FORCE INDIA MERCEDES
21 Giancarlo FISICHELLA (I) FORCE INDIA F1 TEAM FORCE INDIA MERCEDES

22 Jenson BUTTON (GB) BRAWN GP FORMULA ONE TEAM BRAWN MERCEDES
23 Rubens BARRICHELLO (BR) BRAWN GP FORMULA ONE TEAM BRAWN MERCEDES

Well it wouldn't do much good if you did.

After all, you would have to be pointed down to hit the little bugger

Numbers 22 and 23 aren't too bad, McLaren was running with them last year and successfully! Maybe Brawn GP can replicate the same fate.

If the teams just kept their numbers like they used to this would not be an issue.

On a lighter note - British driver wearing #22 (both cases as a result of an artificial re-jigging of the order) to be champion two years running?

Well it's nice to dream...

If brawn had a choice, be at tail of pitlane and lower numbers or the place at the table for the cash, he would not be worrying over where the pitbox is....
