I've seen this on other forums and thought it might be fun. (More fun than identifying an artist's Pele? WE WILL SEE!!)

3. No Tori
4. You must post a link, either youtube, soundcloud, or whatever

I didn't like it much at first but by the end I thought it was pretty great. I can hear a distant Siouxsie influence.

I recently discovered this version of this song:

^ Interesting concept (possessed baby shouts oxymoronic yearnings through computer), but the narrative arc of the video ultimately fails - who is her new friend? WE HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW!

I take your future-cocaine-mule-bait and raise you some legit musical theatre;

I thought the name of the song was "The light in the pizza", so I was getting ready for a huge WTF.
It's... I don't get musicals, I can't really understand what's the point of listening a song from a musical if you are not seeing the musical. The song is ok; I don't like her voice (the color of her voice is the kind of color that I find annoying). And I have no clue what the heck is happening there. For what I've seen, her girlfriend is getting married. Or her daughter. Or her pizza. Por el amor de dios, she keeps on singing.

I know the song is in Spanish, so I'd like to know what you think of this without having any idea of the lyrics:

^HAHA! There is actually a song called The Light in the Piazza in the show, watch it if you can handle it...

NB: This isn't part of the game, carry on with waitressboy's entry.

Waitressboy, I rather liked that not knowing what they were saying. They conveyed a lot of emotions and at one point made me a little teary. If they are not singing about something sad then I'm gonna feel like a jackass.

^ I was expecting something really dark with the title and that screen cap. It's not bad... kinda reminds me of Laura Branigan. Maybe a little too successful with its synth-pop revival. I may revisit one day though.

Ahh this is an artist I keep on meaning to get around to listening to, on the strength of this song actually. It has all the elements I like in music (female vocals, electronic music) and this has convinced me to give her album a listen now. It's not sinking in straight away as a "love" though, might grow on me. At least it's not Grimes, can't get into her at all.

I throw something a bit different. Amadou and Mariam have an album out that features artists like Santigold, Theophilus London, Jake Shears from Scissor Sisters, etc. This is the latest single from it.

^that's a cool, summery pop song. I dig the groove and the kinda choral thing its got going, it's really a song to have fun in a group to.

great idea for a game btw! great way of sharing music. we're allowed to post Tori, right?

if so:

if not
Eh I dunno what to share that's relevant so I'll just link something I've been really really really enjoying recently.

Popol Vuh is one of the more under-appreciated and unknown Krautrock bands but also one of the most innovative and imo artistically successful. Hosianna Mantra is Popol Vuh's third album, and, while the band had previously been known for its pioneering use of synthesisers, this album presents a total reversion to the composer's acoustic roots, and the result couldn;t sound more natural - this gorgeously soft and ethereal amalgam of Eastern traditional music and folk and Western classical music, presented in a format that is still vaguely "rock", seems to hang outside of time and space, like echoes and whispers of chants and songs from an ancient past or a distant future, or perhaps some dreamland or fantasy realm. There's a spiritual depth to this album unlike no other I've heard. It also feels like a more mature kind of precursor to a lot of dreampop.

^ how funny!! I just download that Popol Vuh only hours ago and I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet. I've also been meaning to put some more Krautrock on my ipod, though I tend to go for the droney space-rock type stuff like Faust. I can tell from the song you posted that this will be an intense listen, probably not sunny afternoon type listening (I'm ready to go to the beach right now so I think I'll hold off on the rest of the album until tonight, heh)

Nice song. I didn't expect anything like this at all; I've always read about Jarboe when they're talking about Swans or Diamanda Galás or Meredith Monk... but this is a very cute song, very Kate Bush circa Never For Ever. If the rest of the album has this vibe, I'll listen to it.

Love the song, love the video. Makes me want to sit in the grass and drink beverages. I want to check this out. What a great thread this is.

Warning: Profanity and very sexual.

^A fascinating little time capsule of a song. Not one I'll likely listen to again, but I love the blues.

Too bad we can't comment on older posts.

I liked "Everything I know" enough not to stop it, but it's not really the type of music I normally listen to.

My friends usually complain that I don't listen to enough music in Spanish, but I there really isn't much that I like. The styles are way too...pink? I like this one, though. Or, it brings me good memories, at least:

I like that it's weirder than the stuff they've released in the last couple of years and it has some nice harmonies but I found it a bit dull, ultimately.

^ A completely new name to me but one I'll be researching further based on that. I love odd string stuff and even after four listens I'm still hearing new sounds as there seems to be quite a lot going on.

That was pretty great! The singer's voice reminded me a bit of Michael Stipe's. I'll definitely be listening to more of their stuff.

STOP THE WORLD.
Does Beirut sound like that? Really? All these years I never ever ever ever wanted to listen to him/them coz I thought it was a hypster band, like Devendra Banhart or seudo hippie folk like that, which I find incredibly hideous. This song is beautiful. Really, really beautiful. I even like the brass.
Wow, what a surprise. I'm getting rid of one preconception.
