I looked and I couldn't see one!

Does what it says on the tin. What are your top 10 favourite Joanna Newsom songs? I'm going to have to make it extra hard, I'm afraid, and ask you to rank them in preference order (as best you can.)

Also feel free to say why you've chosen said songs; I like reading stuff like that.

I started typing a list and realized about seven songs down that I'd already listed all five Ys songs. Maybe I need to give this more thought... or maybe that's the way it is! I shall ponder.

By my iTunes's report of most played (because I'm not afraid of a cop-out):

1. Peach, Plum, Pear
2. You and Me, Bess
3. Sprout and the Bean
4. Have One on Me
5. '81

9. On a Good Day
10. In California

Nothing from Ys

Overriding my iTunes in order to answer the real question, I'd still keep the top eight in there, and add Sawdust and Diamonds and Cosmia, with Colleen as an honorable mention.

Arranging the list by preference is impossible! I attempted, and failed, but I will offer Cosmia as my favorite-for-now. Preference right now is given to the songs I've most recently discovered. Each of these songs I've formed a deep fascination with (obviously I'm still at an inchoate stage with Ys), which makes it difficult to explain why they're on my list and impossible to rank. Each song is just so damn interesting, beautiful, and complicated in its own way.
