Thanks for sharing this info. I'm coming to the DR for a year and trying to figure out a way for my family to keep in touch. Well, an economical way!! This looks perfect. Did you have to use your credit card to purchase the minutes??

Default Chepest "calling card" to the Dominican Republic
Hey guys! Been busy for a while, but I'm back And with tons of war stories jeje

For any of you that have family that calls you from outside DR or if you need to make the calls yourself...I found the absolute cheapest "calling card" for making those calls.

The company is Amantel.com they charge 1.5 cents for calling a DR land line and 4.9 cents for mobile numbers. I use the term calling card in quotes because they have an app that you can use from a smart phone and it dials without needing any pin. I just churned through $25 using their android app, worked just as advertised. Worked out just as good as Google Voice for anyone who is familiar with it.

Just don't call their customer service...geez! That was a lesson in frustration lol
