Here's a horses' mouth source on what 7 Mountains is about

http://www.the7mountains.com/

And here's a page on Third Wave

http://www.deceptioninthechurch.com/thirdwave.html

And Sarah Palin's home church in Wasilia, Alaska is a member of the Third Wave movement, as well as funders of the current African 'witch hunts.'

I think the Christers and Islamists truly deserve each other. Perhaps this is how the world gets rid of all of them.

It's taking far too long, in my opinion.

I personally am much more concerned about the co-lateral damage, such as you and I

I'm glad you didn't say you were concerned about me. I'll be just fine no matter what happens. Hehehe.

There are basic cultural patterns here that I trust. The more extreme a religious group is, the more prone they are to fragment. The new fragments usually hate each other more than the original enemy.

Just one example. The Shia and the Suni hate each other much more than they hate Christians. Look at what they are doing to each other in Iraq.

Having said that, the Christers and Islamists were made for each other. It is the will of God. They will show the world why we need sanity -- and why we don't need them.

I have to agree, in regard to jokes, that this is one time when I would attack the secondary messengers rather than the messenger himself.

As a matter of history, Jesus did not found Christianity. Jesus preached only to a Jewish audience. It was Paul -- who never met Jesus -- who preached to the gentile world and created Christianity.

I am convinced that without Paul, the Jesus movement would have been absorbed into the mainstream Judaism of the time. The Jesus movement would have had the same relationship to Judaism as Buddhism -- another reform movement -- had to the Hindu religion.

In India, following Buddha's death, the Buddhist reform movent was largly absorbed by the Hindu religion. This is exactly where the Jesus movent was heading when Paul intervened. It follows that attacks on the historic figure of Jesus are misplaced.

The is exactly Nietzsche's arguement when he stated "God is dead."

He suggested that it was Paul who killed the Jewish concept of God. He actually had a lot of respect for the historical Jesus.

An interesting thought, but misguided. The Jewish concept of God changes over time as the Jews change over time.

I do think that Islam has a concept of God that Jesus would find familiar. Then again, Jesus was a reformer.

Whatever Paul did, or did not, there would be no Christianity without Jesus. (Unless some guy named "Bob" had replaced the key figure in all of the stories.) Attacking any central figure of a religion through ridicule is only going to win one friends in certain circles. (Said circle not residing here.) Otherwise, in mixed company it's just plain rude.

Many Jews would be surprised to learn that their god is dead.

And from an Atheist's point of view, many people would be surprised that their gods never existed in the first place but rather that the thoughts of gods are only the figments of man's imagination.

An interesting point. I would say that it is belief that gives any god life. While there are believing Jews, the Jewish God lives.

Well Rake, you Don't see me getting my chonies all in a wad when people use the bs line, "The Devil made me do it..." I can't believe how uptight and politically correct people suddenly are and getting upset over petty stuff.

If I believed the Devil to be a serious part of my religious beliefs I would probably call them on it. Or sit in the corner and hold my tongue.

If I don't believe in something strongly enough then it's not worth defending. BTW: I don't believe that your devil exists, by whatever name you call him. I will defend that.

Uh-huh jonathan....and you'd probably like me next to say something along the lines of "to them it's all real and not a question of belief(s)?"

Well as a Modern Satnist I do not believe in a literal Satan or Devil, or God for that matter. Satan is merely an Archetype and Modern Satanism a philosophy and lifestyle. I believe people need to quit blaming an imagined evil boogyman for their actions and take responsibility for their deeds. They also need to quit depending on an imaginary friend is the sky for grace, forgiveness and redemption, these are totally up to the individual also. But that is just my personal opinion. As far as defending what I believe in, I just chose my battles, and this is something I find petty and not getting into a pissing contest over. If some fundie goes overboard about "the devil" I will get into it, but even then it takes allot, I just consider the source. It's usuallly the same type of people that deny evolution and believe the earth is only 6 to 9 thousand years old...
