Morality a distinction between right and wrong.
Its taught not a given in my mind

Ones list ... varies from person to person.The how we were taught/brought up can determine just how much value we put on the word morality,not to mention applying to our everyday life.


Morality taught as well by example,not in a book.

Treat others as you yourself would want to be treated as well as the rule of harm none.

Nice responses to this subject. I have waited as I wanted to see what others had to say on the subject.

Morality is a difficult subject to discuss because there are so many variables involved.

I will agree that there are 'universal' guidelines suggesting what is moral and what is not. But an actual 'list', I think, does not exist nor are all acts 'immoral' under all conditions.

I suggest that we do what we think we should do at any given moment because it is what needs be done and then judgement comes later, if at all.

I will agree that there are certain actions that just should not be committed. But for the person committing the act, it may be something that they thought they needed to do.

I still like the saying 'do unto others as you would have them do unto you' but even this can be hard to hold to under certain conditions. And even the 'do what thou wilt, but harm none' doesn't hold under all conditions because there are conditions where one must harm others in order to protect oneself or protect those one loves.

Actually, the Ten Commandments aren't a bad standard either. They can well be used as guidelines for moral conduct.

But, being what we are, humans, we will, in almost all cases, do what we think is in our best interest. Those actions would almost always be considered by ourself as moral.
