Has anyone ever read anything by R. Dominicus Petrus?
The ULC seminary has an article written by this person. The comparison between Gods and Demons deminishes and similarites are drawn between the two. The concept that Demons were Gods before they were defeated by another God is an intresting concept to me. This idea is also followed by entities mislabeled or misunderstood and placed into the same category as demons is also a new concept. Does anyone have any feedback on the author or the topic? |

Has anyone ever read anything by R. Dominicus Petrus? So I could see this conversion happening the other way too if a people felt that they needed some evil demons. Peace & Love! |

I don't know anything about the author that was mentioned, but I was reading a book by Raymond Buckland. He quoted some anthropoligist or another that said that the gods of one relgion become the demons of the next relgion. In that context what you are saying would make sense and that demons and gods have more in common than what seperates them.

I don't know the author, but the topic looks like a 'One man's Heaven is another man's hell' type of deal. I guess it depends on the person to decide if they want to belive the one they follow is a good guy or a bad guy. And since neither angels or demons wear cowboy hats, sometimes it's hard to tell the difference.

When you study ancient mythologies you discover that in many cases the Demons were Gods that were conquered by newer Gods. It is probably a sign of one culture conquering another culture. The conquering culture will impose its Gods and demonize the Gods of the conquered culture.
But taking it into the metaphysical (Vedanta) realm, God in the Srimad Bhagavad Gita says in various places that He is "the Lord who dwells in every creature" (Srimad Bhagavad Gita 4:6) that, of course, would include all the Gods (Devas & Devis), Demons (males & females), minerals, plants, animals, and human beings.
