Default Gods and Demons one in the same
Has anyone ever read anything by R. Dominicus Petrus?

The ULC seminary has an article written by this person. The comparison between Gods and Demons deminishes and similarites are drawn between the two. The concept that Demons were Gods before they were defeated by another God is an intresting concept to me.

This idea is also followed by entities mislabeled or misunderstood and placed into the same category as demons is also a new concept.

Does anyone have any feedback on the author or the topic?

I have no knowledge of who you speak but the subject is interesting in that I just saw part of a program on TV concerning Tibetan Buddhism where the founder (the monk who brought Buddhism to Tibet) took all the evil demons the local people had and converted these demons into nice gods.

So I could see this conversion happening the other way too if a people felt that they needed some evil demons.

I don't know anything about the author that was mentioned, but I was reading a book by Raymond Buckland. He quoted some anthropoligist or another that said that the gods of one relgion become the demons of the next relgion. In that context what you are saying would make sense and that demons and gods have more in common than what seperates them.

I don't know the author, but the topic looks like a 'One man's Heaven is another man's hell' type of deal. I guess it depends on the person to decide if they want to belive the one they follow is a good guy or a bad guy. And since neither angels or demons wear cowboy hats, sometimes it's hard to tell the difference.

Love & Light,

When you study ancient mythologies you discover that in many cases the Demons were Gods that were conquered by newer Gods. It is probably a sign of one culture conquering another culture. The conquering culture will impose its Gods and demonize the Gods of the conquered culture.

But taking it into the metaphysical (Vedanta) realm, God in the Srimad Bhagavad Gita says in various places that He is "the Lord who dwells in every creature" (Srimad Bhagavad Gita 4:6) that, of course, would include all the Gods (Devas & Devis), Demons (males & females), minerals, plants, animals, and human beings.

So then, is that to say the only seperation between a God and Demon is our perception?

I would answer "Yes" to your question. But I think the perception may be more at what the religious leaders tell the followers to believe.
