Default The Signifigance of Spiders
Well, summer is well upon us, and that means all sorts of beasties come around looking for food and water. We usually see our fair share of spiders in the house (I have a catch-and-release policy) and as I was trying to catch yet another this morning, it struck me that we've been seeing more than what I recall any other summer.

While there are a variety of reasons for this, I am quite fond of spiders, and have believed that sightings of a given animal may actually mean something from a spiritual point of view.
I'm doing my own research in what (if anything) this could mean, and have my own beliefs, but in the interest of hearing another point of view, would like the forum's thoughts on the signifigance of spiders..?

Many Thanks!

~ Hmmm, interesting thought & question! Thank you!
Spiders are known for webs...
Probably orb-weavers you're seeing? The 'garden' spider with the round web that waits for prey to stumble in & get caught? That could maybe perhaps mean something's coming to you.
Just be ready to catch it! lol

One year we had a bunch of wolf spiders, they go hunting. That year we moved. Far.
{I hadn't even thought of that connection before!}

Interesting. Thanx!

I understand that Iktoma (ick toe may) [the name given by the Lakota peoples, probably spelled it wrong] is the creator of the world. It spun the universe together and created the link to all of creation, seen and unseen - thus the web of life.

It is also the creator of our language, it spun the first letters and sounds for humans to understand, it is also the trickster...think that is all that I know about it, other than I let them live in my house to catch all the little creatures that "bug" me..so to speak.
