Pope Banishes Limbo
I Ain't Goin No-Where. This Joint's Got a Hot Tub! And free Drinks for Popes in good standing. Viva Limbus! Anyway, the metaphysical realm/state of Limbo has existed far longer in the meme-tapestry than the Roman Catholic Church. Historical Inertia should prove The Roman H.See quite wrong in his simple dismissal. While composing this post, I happened to check 23AE.com, and found I was quite right: PRESS RELEASE: DISCORDIAN SOCIETY ACQUIRES LIMBO For Immediate Release DISCORDIAN SOCIETY ACQUIRES LIMBO Monday 23 April, 2007 In a surprise move today, the Discordian Society, a small neo-religious group which worships the Ancient Greek Deity of Chaos called "Eris" (and known to the Ancient Romans as "Discordia"), have announced that they have acquired the non-corporeal realm known as "Limbo". Limbo, the theological concept [claimed as] previously belonging to the Christian Catholic Church, was abandoned by the Church last Friday. Although the Discordian Society is anarchic in structure, a self-proclaimed spokesperson for the movement who identified himself only as "His Wholiness the Rev.DrJon" made the following statement: "The Discordian Society, in line with previous acquisitions, welcomes the arrival of Limbo into the fold. We look forward to giving the place a clean sweep, a good polish and a nice redecoration. We'd like to thank fellow Pope* Benedict XVI for making this opportunity possible. We'd also like to offer the hand of friendship to those tenants of Limbo who chose to stay. We assure all who do wish to stay that they are welcome to continue to reside in the manner to which they are accustomed, however we will also be undertaking a rolling series of improvements over the coming eons, which should see a marked increase in liveability benchmarks." There is no word yet as to what purposes, if any, the Discordian Society plan to put Limbo to, however opinion is divided amongst the Discordian faithful. (* Discordians believe that every man, woman and child is a Pope.) More public statements on this: "I am glad this takeover has occurred. There was concern as to where the souls of those armadilloes, who do not partake in hotdog buns before they die, go. If the RCC had shut down Limbo these souls would have become yet more statistics in the ever growing number of homeless on our streets." -Grandmaster Armadillo Curmudgeon of the Chao-Lin Temple (via tao_ov_dreaming) "I am relieved to hear that the Limbonian people's traditional way of afterlife will not be disrupted." -lokicarbis Taken from the news page of http://www.poee.co.uk/web/ ![]() |

Hmm....having read Dante I must ask if this will affect Purgatory in any way or are we talking about the same thing here greyface? They're always remaking movies and rewriting history so I suppose redoing a classic work of literature isn't completely out of the question. Either way, congratulations!!

No, They only hand those out at your local grocery store, that's really why they can eat meat on at Friday's...
Wait, you meant Friday as in the day, not the restaurant... Though the way I feel after walking out of there is that I've committed a sin... ![]() And no , Purgatory is a totally different locality, though in close proximity to Ol' Limb Peak. |
