Default Choosing a Spiritual Path
Choosing a Spiritual Path

Healing the heart and mind is often a challenge. For those who have been deeply wounded by traditional religion and the guilt associated with simply being human, it is often a long journey to peace of mind. The journey is worth the effort, at the other end is self-acceptance, a joy in living and a powerful spiritual connection with all life. Many who have been bludgeoned with religious dogma, need to take time to examine what is truly in their hearts and replace old judging symbols with new life affirming symbols before they can make a free choice of Paths.

Your spiritual connection with the Divine is the most intimate personal relationship you will ever have. No one knows what path best expresses your own unique connection with a Higher Power, not ministers, not priests, not psychics, not your family, not your soul-mate, and not me.

Your life is a miracle for YOU to explore.

Many people express their spirituality through the honoring of the Great Goddess. I am one who has found that the Goddess speaks clearly and lovingly to me, I am a Pagan.

The many voices of the past that told me of a jealous and punishing God, have no power in my life today. They have been replaced with a deeper knowing. I am only saddened that some would choose to seek out a negative, judgemental diety to express their spiritual selves and their view of the world. Such fear based religions do little to create a true sense of unconditional love and acceptance.

All religions contain grains of truth, all contain flaws. The Path you choose must be one which allows you to fully express your spiritual essence. One which honors and celebrates your values, ethics, beliefs and inner knowings. Whether you choose the Goddess Path, Buddhism, Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Atheism, Paganism, Hinduism, Shinto, Taoism, Native American beliefs, or another spiritual path is not nearly as important as the act of freely choosing. All faiths work for some people. The trick is to find the Path that is right for you. Do not be discouraged or coerced into following anyone else's belief system. You have the right to choose your own way of spiritually expressing your connection with the Divine. http://www.spiralgoddess.com/SpiritPath.html

Hi OHCowgirl,

Although I do not hold to Paganism or any other 'religion', I do think these are valid thoughts.

We each must walk our own path of spirituality. We each are different and unique and therefore we each must walk our own spiritual path. Yes, we will at times walk with others - we walk with another for a while then our paths separate, perhaps merging again later.

It is a paradox, really, that although we are all One, we are indeed individual parts of the One. Special, each of us are, because without each individual, the whole would not be complete. We all come from the same source and we all will return to that same source.

Peace & Love!

I have always said 'what you believe is not as important than IF you believe.'

I can easily agree with this statement. All religions are right and all religions are wrong. It is a matter of deciding which one "speaks" to you. If only everyone would allow for this "speech"

I agree with this.. While I am a pagan also.. And I have found the love of the lord and the lady.. I am not so narrow as to think that my path is the only path. Throughout my short life I have learned that the phrase "All gods are one god" is indeed true.

Or perhaps is your path the only true one for you?

Very insightful. I think everyone has their true path, but there is not one true path for everyone. It is a matter of discovering it.

My spiritual path is learning about all paths. From what I found, there are lessons shared in some paths that aren't shared in others. All paths lead to the divine, though I don't feel many of the things I do require me to bother a God (gender neutral). I often try talking to the spirits that inhabit this world or the next, being careful who I speak to and making sure I don't do anything rash.

What a great truth!!!! For over forty years I have enjoyed an incredible spiritual journey. I have found the Beloved One in many places. Centered in the Vedic teachings, I have found joy in the teachings of Buddha, St. Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross, St. Therese of Lisieux (my favorite Christian saint), Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa, and others. I have sat in meditation with Buddhists and Hindus. I enjoy the Roman Catholic Mass and Hindu pujas(religious service). The Pentecostal minister who celebrated our wedding was a true servant of God, I shall never forget him. I also enjoy the friendship of some thirty plus cloistered contemplative nuns who are living servants of the Beloved One. How much joy in those different paths! The journey has not ended yet ... I still have to discover new expressions of spirituality...! Each discovery adds a new dimension to my own spiritual path. OMM!!!
