I really don't have a physical location for a sanctuary, it is a state of mind that generates my poetry, stories or any crazy idea that needs deep thought. My poems usually start out as a single image or line and will need anywhere from a day to a couple years percolating in the cauldron of my soul before it's ready to be put to paper. When I tap into that vault and pull out the poem to complete it; that particular mindset is my sanctuary. Nothing can reach me there; I am in a wonderful moment of creation that transcends myself. It's kind of scary at times, it seems that the information is coming from outside myself, I can really understand why the ancients (and a few modern artists) believed in muses.

My sanctuary is in my heart. But there is the physical shrine (the Moriviví Hermitage) in the back part of the house. The shrine is dedicated to the Divine in Its many aspects: Father, Mother, Avatars, Gurus, etc. The shrine and the library are one. I hope that some day it will be much larger.

Mainly I feel its in the mind/heart and soul but it sure does help to have places one can go when in overload.
So.. I actually have a couple places (back up in case I cant make it to one),the beach at night the waves crashing the shore and basically the only noise out there. And if I cant get there just being out after midnight, walking Brute works. |

My sanctuary is here in my little store, when it's closed, surrounded by my herbs. On my walls are beautiful gifts given to me by the people I love and those who love me. I have my medicine bag and my rattle near my desk, out of view of customers, but right where I can touch them. I listen to beautiful Native American music when I'm here and my customers enjoy the ambiance. It's a very soothing and healing place.
