As it has been said, Christianity is a relationship with God, and so through love. Let me ask, does anyone see the past's events , where awful acts were commited in God's and Christ's name, as being true Christian actions, a religion that has always preached love tward all men? Further, were these men, who commited these horrendous acts, just using the name of Christ to cover up their rather unsavory actions? If so, then Christianity in itself is still pure and it's morals still intact.
To answer the original question, we need to enact a common, agreed-upon definition of the word morals. In my humble opinion, morals are a number of things, including but not limited to respect, kindness, humbleness, and so on - all of which are preached through out the NT. If one is to respect all that need be respected, then obeying the commandments of one's creator seems respectful. If one was to strive to be as Christ and therefor follow the great example, then all would be taken care of. So if this is morals, then indeed, Christianity is completely about morals (in my opinion). I didn't mean to offend anyone or portray a greater-than-thou image about myself, with my previous posts. I was simply making the point, that if a friend stated a belief that you felt could hurt him down the road, then you should try to correct him (or let him correct you). |
