Default Prayer about the Highway
I was listening to NPR, recently while driving home from work and there was a story of a Church in Texas that began a ministry where they're going aside of I-35 and hope for passing driver. The motion is known as Light the Highway. They said they pray for the finish of endemic poverty, security, pray for people caught within their lives, and found in drug habits and impossible. Should you visit their web site they record 22 churches on I-35 that participate. Although Light the Highway isn't well known, there's considerable doubt about any of it at the Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. "America is saturated in religious organizations that are testing the limits of what's possible to think a lot of which will possess a ephemeral lifetime and will diminish from the picture since it is without substance," states William Lawrence, the dean at Perkins. I was discussing this with friends and family yesterday and the concept came up that exactly what the Light the Highway team was doing was ineffective since praying for individuals you don't know and have only seen briefly while they travel down the road isn't the way in which prayer is meant to work. I voiced my opinion that prayer means various things to everybody else and is just a individual matter, but was basically laughed at. What're your ideas?
