Default Skulls and Bones & the Bush family
Does that sit a little odd with any of the Christians here? How about just you regular people?

Indeed, a strange fraternity-type secret society with pagan/satanic type rituals and whatnot. They also put people in places of power, an illuminati of sorts.

Well, I knew about it before and have never understood it. Also GWB's daughter
Barbara is in it too, I believe.

I think the organization is frightening, and undermines our republic and all the democratic elements in it.

The amount of people in Skull and Bones that become successful businessmen and politicians is what gets to me. Both Kerry and Bush were members, the two people we could've elected from this same secret society. Both Kerry and Bush refuse to talk about the society, they quickly change the subject when asked.

I think it's nothing more than the typical college fraternity/sorority stuff.
The "skull and cross bones" makes it seem mysterious, and the media loves to play that up.
It's not surprising that a large number of the members become highly successful high level business men. They have a degree from YALE Univeristy.

So do a lot of people. That doesn't win you an election. And it doesn't mean much, Bush isn't the smartest tack in the box.

There was this one girl who wrote a book about them, she was an ex-member or something. She didn't play up any conspiracy theory but she did say that it's sole purpose was to fast track people in to high positions. She said, essentially, they worshipped a goddess and were all on power trips.

They interviewed her, if I find the link I'll give it.

They stopped talking to her. Nobody that was in it never talks about it. It's a little more than a frat, it's a secret society for the "elite" (come on, they aren't that special) to secure their pampered futures.

I agree it's a "secret society for the elite" to fast track themselves into power.
Besides having a Yale degree, most of them come from very influencial families.
These aren't just everyday college students, they are sons and daughters of some of the wealthiest and most powerful families out there. It's the old "not what you know, but who you know" thang. I'm sure being in this group puts one in touch with the "right person" at the "right time".

If it's true they actually "worship" some kind of goddess, then yeah, I'd say they were some kind of cult. But from what I've read about them (which is very limited) they are just the typical frat group, just richer.

If you find that link it would be interesting to read more about it.

According to the ex-member, they did a lot of weird rituals that involved pagan-esque stuff.

Some of the more serious conspiracy theorists have gone farther. For one, they claim (I haven't read up on it) that the blood of these powerful people goes all the way back to cleopatra, alexander the great, etc. I would argue that these are natural events, the powerful stay powerful it's human nature. Not a giant conspiracy. But, I think it's important for the public to know how people like Bush and Kerry get in to power, it may lower support for them.

The Illuminati was well known amongst the educated, as a group of intellectuals influencing politics and social order.

Skulls and Bones, if it is a secret society, obviously is more of a gateway. It's dressed up to be a social group, and it's members are powerful and well-known. We really don't know that much about them, other than some weird rituals, their members, and the fact that they exist. Seriously, how many times do you think about them a day? Most people don't.

Even our founding fathers made mention of an illuminati presence. I believe Washington and Jefferson have commented on them. Ben Franklin is accused of being one himself.

People blow the Illuminati out of proportion though. They were just a group of intellectuals influencing ideals, their power was never absolute. In fact, they opposed much of the power.

It has to be Bush's fault.

I heard they have the skull of geronimo. Or at least like to maintain a rumour that they do.
