Default 9/11 Panel Suspected Deception by Pentagon
Some staff members and commissioners of the Sept. 11 panel concluded that the Pentagon's initial story of how it reacted to the 2001 terrorist attacks may have been part of a deliberate effort to mislead the commission and the public rather than a reflection of the fog of events on that day, according to sources involved in the debate. 9/11 Panel Suspected Deception by Pentagon

It really is amazing how no member of the military has been called on the carpet for the incredible FUBAR'd response of the military on 9-11-01. Even before that day planes ROUTINELY intercepted planes that are off course or entering restricted air space. Yet that day it didn't happen. Why?
Did you read the other thread posted by random? NEADS was trying to locate the planes to intercept them, but couldn't. In a "ROUTINE" intercept a plane is usually still squawking a transponder code so it can be tracked. Planes that are simply off course and inadvertantly entering restricted airspace are not trying to avoid detection the way that the 9-11 planes were, so they would be more easily intercepted. It also didn't help things, that the interceptor pilots knew there was going to be a simulation on Sept. 11th so when they were ordered to Washington, they assumed it was the exercise and flew to a training area instead.

You beat me to it. I was also going to point out how you can no longer track planes who have turned their transponders off. In addition, when a plane drops off radar, standard procedure is for air traffic controllers to contact other towers to see if they have them on radar and they methodically & calmly go about trying to locate the plane even if they suspect it crashed. Not being able to intercept and chasing a phantom plane doesn't seem odd to me under the circumstances of 9/11. But there are hints at other discrepancies in the news article that may not be normal.

The purpose of this article is to whitewash the entire thing and, of course, blame 9/11 on the incompetence of NORAD. .. Its the Blame Game once again!

The NORAD tapes, far from dissolving so-called "conspiracy theories," only serve to support the weight of evidence that points directly towards a deliberate plan on that day to make the air defenses of the US impotent and to enable the planes to find their targets.

But, thats just my personal opinion!

What I got from the NORAD tapes was that until members actually saw planes hit on their TV's they thought was an exercise. Interesting Stuff. I like the ladies talking about it being an actual hijacking, and one of them saying..."cool!".

I don't really see much incompetence here. NORAD made good decisions given the information that they had. It was just a highly irregular situation.
