I posted this once before elsewhere, but what do you think? Do you think the government is hiding UFO technology? i.e. flys their own "UFO" based crafts around for experimental operations? Elaborate on your posts. If you mean spacecraft of extraterrestrial origin then probably not. In order to have such spacecraft you would have to have aliens. This brings up Fermi's paradox, which basically ask if there are other intelligent species out there why haven't we detected them? Astronomers estimate that a space-faring civilization could colonize the entire galaxy in 5 million years. This is assuming that they can only travel at speeds much less than that of light. If they can travel at speeds near the speed of light then it would take much less time, say "only" 1 million years. So given the long history of the galaxy surely if there were others out there they would have visited our star system by now. Even if they haven't we should be able to detect their presence from electromagnetic emissions. So is it possible that given the 400 billion stars or so that are in our galaxy that only one (ours) harbors intelligent life? I believe that must be the case. We probably are alone. How can this be? The goldilocks principle states that we have intelligent life on Earth because the Earth just happens to be perfect for us. Consider: The Earth has an usually large moon that stabilizes our planet's axis and provides a stable environment for the development of life. Without the moon we would not exist. The Earth has a powerful magnetic field that protects us from solar wind. Mars does not have a magnetic field like this and is hostile to life. Without it the Earth would surely be lifeless as well. Jupiter is large and in a perfect spot in the solar system to protect the inner planets from meteor and comet impacts. It doesn't stop them all but without Jupiter the Earth would be hit much more often than it is making higher life forms impossible. In addition to these threats, there are many other ways for intelligent species to be wiped out. nuclear warfare super caldera volcanic eruption hydrocarbon depletion without a replacement energy dysgenic breeding evironmental collapse powerful solar storm super nova explosion in a nearby star system collision with another star system or black hole rapid climate change or extreme climate changes (ie snowball Earth) nanotechnological warfare epidemic disease Thats all I can think of right now but there are probably many more. So my guess is that advanced civilizations simply do not last long enough to travel between the stars. |

Ok Lee. I thought you meant alien spacecraft.
Who knows, what kind of cool stuff the military is working on now. I do remember seeing somewhere a story about an Air Force project to develop a flying disc, but sadly I didn't save the link. could be the same project that you mentioned above from the 1950's. Anyway, you said that you believe that the government has aquired technology that is not of extra-terrestrial origin, could you say from whom you believe the technology was aquired? I doubt that the government still uses area 51, or groom lake, for the purpose of testing experimental aircraft since the site is now widely known and satellite photos of the facility are readily available. Many many good points discovered upon! I agree to a lot of this. Why would we be here otherwise. Our planet is the "supreme" planet in our solar system, and without the other planets, moons as well... we'd ultimately be doomed, or non existant for that matter. |

Anyway, you said that you believe that the government has aquired technology that is not of extra-terrestrial origin, could you say from whom you believe the technology was aquired? As far as Area 51 is concerned, you are most likely correct. They probably don't do much "secrative testing" there anymore. I would be willing to bet it's at a new facility, which I cannot remember, AREA something, and using AREA 51 for a decoy. |
