A few weeks ago Berlin threaten Israel that if they did not stop Yesha building they would cancel the 6th Dolphin. They have backed away from that position and now agree to build the sub and pay for one third of it.

Germany will build and pay up to one-third of the cost of a sixth Dolphin-class submarine to be delivered to the navy, a German government official said on Wednesday.

The agreement in principle to provide the submarine, which foreign reports say enhances Israel’s second strike capability since it can carry nuclear warheads, comes a month after reports that Germany was reconsidering the deal because of anger at the announcement of plans to build some 1,100 housing units in the capital’s Gilo neighborhood, over the Green Line.

As if Germany are the only submarine manufacturers in the world. It seemed to be a classic case of cutting your nose off to spite your face.
Then the realisation hits them that Israel is not arab and has no need to run cap in hand.

We used to build all kinds of warships and commercial vessels in Belfast but unfortunately the Chinese and Koreans could do it cheaper, still if you ever need any oil platforms!!!!
