On the plus side, Israel joining the EU would really tick off Erdoğan.
Though on the negative side, I wouldn't want to give up any sovereignty to the Eurocrats. Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi opened his meeting with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu Monday by declaring that he is interested in the possibility of Israel joining the European Union. At a reception held in his honor at the Prime Minister's Office upon his arrival in Israel, Berlsuconi reiterated comments which he made to Netanyahu at a prior meeting meeting at Lake Como, that his biggest dream is to have Israel join the European Union. source: http://www.jpost.com/Israel/Article.aspx?id=167486 |

Totally agreed. Why do we want to do this? Why would we economically want to support the likes of Greece that cant even get their economy in order? We are an economic success story and a distinct civilization. We dont need this, and we shouldnt want this. Nor is it going to help us during time of war. Czechoslavakia is actually European, didnt some 60 years ago did it?

G-d bless Rosa Bossi (1911–2008).
(IsraelNN.com) Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, in a special diplomatic speech on Wednesday in the Knesset, said that Israel’s main danger is Iran, attacked the Goldstone Report, and in general expressed strong support for Israel. It was Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu who stole the show, however, when he told the Knesset of an Italian woman who endangered herself during World War II to protect a Nazi-threatened Jewish woman. At the end of the story, Netanyahu said that the woman was none other than Berlusconi's mother – and the entire Knesset assemblage stood on its feet and applauded... Netanyahu, after recounting the ups - and also some downs - of Italian-Israeli relations over the years, began telling of an Italian woman in a train station who encountered a Jewish girl being threatened by a Nazi policeman. The woman courageously positioned herself in between the two, Netanyahu said, and made it clear that if the Nazi attempted to take the girl, “no one in this station will let you get out of here alive.†“The name of that woman,†Netanyahu continued dramatically, “was Rosa, and this is her son – Silvio Berlusconi.†source: http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/135846 |
