Default Ed Miliband keeps antisemite on the payroll
Mostly BECAUSE he is one, not in spite of it.

A prominent anti-Israel activist will remain part of Ed Miliband’s Labour leadership bid despite the MP's advisers learning about what they described as his “reprehensible views”.

A spokesman for Mr Miliband said Joseph Brown’s “silly behaviour”, including allegedly joking about shooting Zionists, would not cost him his job.

Mr Brown, an unpaid member of the campaign team who makes web videos, will remain despite not disclosing that he was forced out of a previous job with a Labour MP in 2009, for withholding his record of anti Zionism.

A spokesman for Ed Miliband said they were unaware of his past.

Mr Brown was fired from his job as aide to Brent North MP Barry Gardiner after it emerged that while he was the student union anti-racism officer at the London School of Economics,he was also a key campaigner against Israel and a spokesman for the university’s Palestinian Society.

Mr Brown, who has worked for a Palestinian-American interest group, had not informed Mr Gardiner of his activities when he took the job.

At LSE he declared his “continued dedication to the Palestinian cause” and was involved in an anti-Israel demonstration and photographed waving a “Free Palestine” placard.

And during the “occupation” of a lecture theatre following Operation Cast Lead in January 2009, he was alleged by the student newspaper to have pretended “to hold a machine gun and said 'I loaded the bullets in, aimed, fired, and shot down that Zionist’.”

He also proposed a successful motion attacking Israel’s “violent assault on the caged and oppressed Palestinian people” and in 2007 criticised the university’s director for condemning discussion of an academic boycott of Israel.

Mr Miliband’s spokesman said they had hundreds of volunteers and did not vet them all.
He said: "Looking at these reported comments, we completely reject them. He has clearly already paid a price for this silly behaviour in the past.”

The former Energy Secretary, Ed Miliband, is the son of the Jewish Marxist thinker Ralph Miliband.
He is running for leader against his older brother David, the former Foreign Secretary, who is widely seen as the frontrunner in the contest.

Ed Miliband has described himself as a "critical friend" of Israel in the past.
