There is plenty to expect from your first day at college and most of it is rather nerve-wrecking. This is because it is a whole other level of education that you must look forward to and a new life at that. Some of your high school friends might not make it with you and you hardly know your way around there.

1. Get to know the folks there

The first order of business is to try and make peace with as many people as you can over there. It doesn’t matter if you couldn’t befriend them or not, what matters is that you just get to know them. You can take a tour of the campus and memorize all of the best places to be at.

Try to interact with some of your classmates and professors that you will be spending the semester. Don’t rush these things as they take time. When the time is right, you will make the right kind of friends.

2. Go to every orientation

If you went to your first campus tour, that’s great. But take our advice and do it again. We say this because it is really hard to get acquainted with so many things on the first go. The more orientations you go to, the more you will find your way around the campus.

3. Keep in check of your paperwork

Before attending your new school, you should inspect whether you have everything for your first day or not. Check to see if all the documents you have are in place. Have them verified and attested and then make copies of them as well. Don’t ever let them out of your sight.

4. Set up a meal plan

You really should figure out how you are going to plan for your meals. Do you want to order from the cafeteria or just set up a kitchen so that you can make your own meals? This is where you need to account for the budget. You may also want to think about where you wish to have your food.

5. Get organized

It will seriously pull you back if you were to miss any of your lectures, due dates and more importantly your essays.
