Default Public Park
Hi,
With all the development in Gran Alacant, apart from the communal pool areas for each urbanisation etc, is there any proposal for Santa Pola Council to build or allocate any land for a public park / recreational areas of some description?

Surely it is already there. sand dunes, beach and nature reserve with pinic area. There are miles and miles of public space already.

I actually think the area of GA has been well catered for when compared to say the local (to us) town of Gillingham Dorset in the UK which has more than double in size over the last ten years and no extra space has been provided.

Can I ask if you have actually walked through the nature reserve or along the beach? What in addition to this do you require for your Spanish Council Tax. Comparison there also mine in UK over 1,700 pounds in Spain 45.00. If it is value for money the Spanish whould get my vote over Blair and Co anyday.

A nice site for a park for all to enjoy would be on the land opposite Dunbars .........

...or opposite Bailey's Bar and the lower bit of Monte Mar. My wife was sitting on the balcony last week suggesting a bit of landscaping and some palms to provide a shady walk. Should be very fertile given the number of dogs defecating over there!!!

We agree that it would be so nice for an area of Park on Gran Alacant

We suggested a seating area opposite Baileys or the Nature reserve or Dunbars

We brought this up with the councillor at our monthly meeting for our magazine (Gran Alacant Advertiser) and were told that Santa Pola itself is so short of any recreation area, that they would be first in the queue for any such development

What a shame!!!!!

Hi
Mark I did not elect Tony in fact I lost 20 pounds on a bet that they would lose at the last UK gerneral Election. I personally think they are the worst Goverment the UK has ever seen but then I am a Tax Payer and not a means tested benefˇt reciever. It really is all a question of the level of service you wish to enjoy and pay for. Unfortunately people just throw rubbish down and expect others to finance the cost of someone to pick it up.

I think we get value for money in GA

From parks to politics, Oops!!

But then I suppose public spending on parks would lead to politics.

The initial thought was for somewhere safe for children, the elderly, disabled (as mentioned by Mark) and other members of the public could go and watch the world go by, whereas the beach etc may not or is not convenient.
It was just a thought as in my opinion it is the only recreational thing missing in Gran Alacant.
Wouldn’t it be nice though if the developers/ builders where obliged to provide, fund or contribute to such amenities initially as a group rather than the tax payer as part of the deal once the major building or development has ceased!

Just a thought !
