Yes there is a Makro in Alicante on Avda Mare Nostrum just off from the motorway

... you can enter on a valid UK card. They sometimes wish to see and perhaps take a photocopy of your passport. Not as big as our Makro's in the UK and not as much choice. Booze prices are incredibly low though - but don't forget the taxes to add on which are different to those in the UK of course. Not too difficult to find. We always take N332 and head into Alicante. At the main set of lights and flyover after the Palmeral Park (on the left of the road) turn left and then keep right as though you're going onto the Gran Via. Follow the signs for Madrid. You'll have to make a turn right to go left - if you know what I mean - after about 1Km on the Gran Via and Makro is off a side down that main road. It's North West of Alicante. Sorry this is very vague but you should be able to find it on a decent map of Alicante. Avda Mare Nostrum. There's probably an easier route - but when the wife's navigating ......... .
