god this post is dumb.
Oh i forgot....

To you, watching women play a sport- let alone do anything- is dumb because you don't like women.

That's no secret about you around here.

watching women's sports is dumb because it has no entertainment value and the talent level is substandard.

Yup, the US women's team clearly cannot beat their opponents using the exact same ball, goal & field dimensions as the men's team.

Mia Hamm, Julie Foudy, etc...sub-standard, yup.

the us women's team would get rolled by a decent varsity high school boys team. they could have 11 michelle akers' and still wouldn't have a chance.

I'm hooked too. I tivo'd the MLS All Stars vs Man U. I do think I prefer international play to club play by a good deal though. Thankfully we have CONCACAF to look forward to.

This isn't anything like comparing the WNBA to the NBA...or softball to MLB....or even women's tennis to men's tennis.

Women's soccer back when i was watching Hamm and Foudy etc was highly entertaining. They play on the exact same field and use the exact same ball and net.

The main difference, though, is that Ashy would rather watch people with more muscle play the sport.

I disagree. Costa Rica is dominant at their home stadium and there is always a ton of energy in any CONCACAF game from the crowd.

Costa Rica has qualified for three World Cups, all three since 1990. They've also been CONCACAF champs three times.

You can act like things are black-and-white all you want, but it just isn't the case.

EDIT: I didn't even mention Honduras, who qualified for the World Cup this year.

the main difference is that one is enjoyable entertainment involving the highly skilled best players in the world while the other is analogous to having knitting needles shoved in your eye. but the vast majority of female athletes are unattractive so i can certainly understand why you get so much joy out of watching women's sports. most likely with lotion and tissues nearby.

My point is that saying "anyone outside of the US and Mexico in CONCACAF is shit" is just an ignorant thing to say. Are Honduras and Costa Rica on the same level as Germany, Netherlands, USA, Mexico, or even Ghana? No, they aren't. However, to say that they aren't competitive on an international stage is just fucking stupid. Honduras lost to Spain 2-0 in a competitive match, lost to Chile 1-0 in a competitive match, and drew with Switzerland.

CONCACAF is good soccer and fun to watch. If you don't think so, then don't fuckin watch it. It's really that simple. Disagreeing with me doesn't make you right. It's a matter of opinion.

there are 40 teams in concacaf. only 10 have ever made it to the world cup. only 5 have been more than once. other than us and mexico the rest have combined for 1 trip past the group stage. over half of the gold cups have been won by either us or mexico.

So that makes watching CONCACAF games a waste of time? You said "concacaf is shit outside of us and mexico" as though it illegitimizes any other games. I love watching games with Trinidad and Tobago, El Salvador, etc. I took a semester of classes in the Caribbean and you can't even imagine the pandemonium surrounding CONCACAF games for those nations. It's endearing and adds a level of excitement to the games. I enjoy watching the sport itself and the story lines outside of the games add a little more to each match.

The issue I have with the international game is that you see more ticky tack calls (as seen in the World Cup). Seems like club matches reward more physical play.
