final roster announced today after last night's game against the czechs. which was basically an open tryout for many of the players in action.

keepers: howard, guzan, hahnemann

defenders: boca, bornstein, dolo, demerit, goodson, gooch, spector

mids: donovan, deuce, holden, bradley, dmb, clark, edu, feilhaber, torres

forwards: altidore, findley, buddle, gomez

biggest surprises are at forward. buddle and gomez basically come outta nowhere and earn spots after not being in the team for any significant stretches. brian ching left home. findley really hasn't done anything in any of his opportunities.

bornstein sucks. hope gooch's form improves from last night. he didn't look very good. especially on the goal that got the czechs level before the half. he needs to be able to play and play well so that boca can play left back and bornstein doesn't see the light of day in south africa. lennon will have a field day with him in the opener.

this is the easiest group they've ever been in. they have some injury issues and need to find someone to play up top with jozy. but if they don't get to the knockout round it will be a colossal disappointment.

he's still only 20. biggest problem with him is that he hasn't gotten any playing time with his club teams. though that has changed since he's joined aris in the greek league. doesn't put enough effort into defending. he's probably still one of the most creative players in the us pool. but until he commits to playing a complete game it will be tough for him to get consistent consideration with the senior team.

The England game looks even more huge now. If they come out of group second they likely will face the Germans as it looks now. I would rather they face Austraila/Serbia/Ghana as the first in thier group than Germany.

Not to sell Algeria and Slovenia short.

The games will have to be played.

germany's midfield took a pretty big blow with ballack's ankle injury.

i'd rather not face an african team, even though ghana will be without essien.

Mighty proud of my City and the areas Soccer Community for the 53k+ showing at the Linc today for the USMNT Sendoff Friendly w/ Turkey. The crowd looked great and I am sure stirred by the Imposing SOB crowd.
Great 2nd half for the guys w/ 2 pretty goals both set up superbly by Landon Donovan. Psyched for the WC now.

defense was a mess in the 1st half. was better in the 2nd until bornstein subbed in. he is just brutal.

great result against a very good turkish team.

They did seem prone to the counter-attack. something to work on.

My brother was down at the game with one of his friends, who was dressed as Captain America.

Default usmnt announces prelim world cup roster
no davies. sucks. bradley said he was in consideration up until yesterday. maybe the biggest deciding factor is that sochaux hadn't given full medical clearance.

keepers: howard, hahnemann, guzan

defenders: bocanegra, bornstein(ugh), cherundolo, demerit, goodson, marshall, onyewu, pearce, spector

mids: beasley, bedoya, bradley, clark, dempsey, donovan, edu, feilhaber, holden, kljestan, rogers, torres

forwards: jozy, buddle, ching, findley, gomez, johnson

nothing too surprising other than eddie johnson, who's been playing pretty well in the greek league for aris.

he's been cleared by milan and has been training with them for a few weeks. but he hasn't seen any matches in a long time and, other than friedlies, won't before south africa.
