From personal experience, libraries will take back books that are long past-due without questions and without fines.

You should have seen the librarians face when I told them I was the one who checked it out and the book was 10 years over due.

"this book's 10 years overdue and I'm the one who checked it out. By the way, where's the other Librarian? She was really hot!"

And it doesn't say which president. Could have been the president of the Mormon Church, if it had been invented by then.
