I couldn't be bothered.

Judging by the responses thus far I may have some key issues to look into.

Five.

House (2)
My car (2)
Wife's car (1)
...plus the swipey thing for my gym membership. The other keys never leave the house.

It would just be 4, but my car key broke off in the ignition a couple years back, and it was WAY cheaper to install a new one than to get the original duplicated. So I have one key for ignition, plus the original for doors and trunk. Kind of a pain initially, but I got used to it. And I'm determined to wring every last mile I can out of this piece of junk ('98 Ford Countour, manual shift, base engine, over 126,000 miles).

I'm afraid I will throw them out only to realize their purpose at a later date.

It would probably be a good idea to start a second key ring. I think it's a "getting older thing". I've acquired many keys along the way.

I live in an apartment building with a shared washroom - I don't know what you call it, so I improvised - I wash my clothes there, not myself.

It doesn't matter that you live in an old building , any locksmith can install it.

Edit: dammit, forgot for a moment that you are swedish - talk with your blacksmith.

Hey at least my door's sturdy enough to withstand our Middle Eastern imported superburglars. I bet yours'd disintegrate after one whiff of kebab with strong sauce breath.

Most of it is glass - we don't have problems with disgruntled immigrants

There's a bridge there now, and they'll learn to cross it eventually. I'm just trying to elicit your inner Kjaersgaard...
Nah, I'm not worried - danmark has more and more influence in the connected areas, so we won't suffer from the poison spewed from stockholm

@Wezil : sorry about the minor threadjacking - hope you'll forgive me
I just noticed, but why are you apologizing to the arrogant North Americans? We Europeans are better than they are, we're more enlightened, more open-minded, and infinitely more cultured than they'll ever be, just by virtue of being born on the right side of the Atlantic.

I had:

2 UMD keys
1 friends place key
1 my place key
1 car key
1 mail key (might not have had it on my ring)
4+ mystery keys (some of which went to things like bike locks I think)

I would do things like open boxes with the mystery keys or use them to pry open things. At least one bent. I am pretty sure that one of them I just found in my apartment right after I moved in once.

Currently I have 5 keys not on any key ring and that is it (office + apartment + 2xgym lock + 1 bike lock). All that is left on my key ring is mystery keys and friends place. I also have a card for the gym and a card for the office.

It's generally polite to apologize when you threadjack a mildly boring topic with a conversation that is hideously boring.

I'm hoping he was just being funny, considering what came after that quoted statement.

Well, then I suggest that you emmigrate to either Denmark or Sweden so you can take part in the hijack in a proper way
