I know a number of people in Pittsburgh, didn't know you were there too. Next time I'm up there I make sure not to mention it.

One of my year jumped at MD ~6 years ago.

Suicide is almost always a terrible thing.

The stairwell is a big slab of concrete, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't burn very well:

Jumping just seems like such a messy and inconveniencing way to go.

Also, wah, wah, wah. The jingle's funny, and probably didn't influence the guy at all. Keep it.

One of the real risks of jumping is that you won't die as in Patty's post. Another risk would seem to be if you jumped from a high enough point, that you get too long in-air to think about it. If you change your mind, you are still screwed. The old saying is "It isn't the jump that killed him, but the sudden stop at the end."

True, but it's the f**kers who do it in front of trains and cars and create traffic mayhem. Selfish arseholes

At least jumping off a building isn't going to cause as much inconvenience but very messy. Same with wrist-slashing. Surely you'd want to make a beautiful corpse?

Now hanging or drug overdosing...those are a truly socially-spirited and considerate means of suicide

Prevents you catching the eye of someone with a predilection for corpse loving? Unless they get off on the messy look?

I am sure there must be varieties of necrophilia. Hey, I'm sure there are messy necrophiliacs around. Probably in Austria.

Suicide is painless
It brings so many changes....

Er, that's nonsense, but to my mind it's the most selfish possible act. It assumes that no-one at all cares about you, which the suicider (is this a noun?) may feel, but is very rarely true. You may feel as though everyone has let you go, but truly there will always be someone who still believes in you, whether it be your analyst or your parents (far more likely). Feeling this way just means that you don't understand what influence you may have on other people, who will still care about you however much of a **** you may be. To destroy their happiness as well as denying yourself the possibility of ever having any is despicable. Never give up - this is the only life you'll ever have so make the most of it while you can, however bad things may seem. Feeling lonely and depressed? There are thousands of women who love men like that, just as there are thousands who will love egotistical, fat, stupid, whatever, men. Love is the drug, as the Charlatans once said (sorry Muricans, but they're a Brit band who've played on your side of the pond plenty of times), so why give up until you've felt it? Try everything once, and if everything disappointed you then commit suicide, but I'll guarantee that something will make you feel wanted, and worthwhile, whether it be religion or a whorehouse.

Not too hard, but I did find a case of a man where no one cared for him. Although that may be because he shut everyone out. Details are lacking because his parents and employer aren't talking. The suicide made a few headlines due to the famous location he did it at.

You do here about people who are left in their flats and homes for months on end until someone discovers them for some reason - unpaid bills or a funny smell coming from the place. Saddening really...it is a crap-inducing thought to think you may exit the world this way. I don't want to turn into the male equivalent of this:

sometimes I have that fear of dying alone. I know I'll never have a woman, but that's ok. I just don't want to die with no friends or family. Though if you think about it, that would be the less selfish thing to do. . That way no one mourns over you. A girl at work pushes me to be friendlier and stuff. I am getting better. I used to not be very friendly and never smiled. I always though that was kind of gay. . But it is important. I want my life to have some value to someone, or what's the point of going on with it?

Smiling and being friendly is "gay"? Come on man, you're going to turn into a right grouch at this rate. The only tasks I get from female colleagues is to find mooing milk jugs in Switzerland, so I must be doing something right.

No, mooing milk jugs...one of my colleagues has asked me to get her such an item the next time I am in Switzerland as she saw one there and take it back to Mexico City with me.
