No, but to be fair, Code Pink had less time in the spotlight than the LaRouchies and "Time To Water The Tree Of Liberty" sidearm wielding loons and "Death Panel" morons are getting now.

Code Pink was in and out of the public eye in minutes. These wackadoos have been going strong for a couple weeks now.

Multiple times over the course of 5 years. And let's not forget about Cindy Sheehan...

I should also note that this is all coming directly on the heels of the completely batshit insane, tinfoil-hat utter farce that was the Birthers.

We've been dealing with Truthers for far longer.

Is it really any more surreal than the days when Code Pink protestors were busting into Congressional hearings? And who can forget this?
Code Pink is just a few nuts but it seems like most of the GOP these days are nuts. It's a difference in scale. And, yes, if you think the President wasn't born in the US or that he's creating FEMA death camps or that health care reform has "death panels" to kill Grandma then you're nuts.

The question then isn't the wackos in the spotlight, of which both sides have in spades, but who is pointing the spotlight. Why were the lefty wingnuts ignored and why are the righty wingnuts getting such wall to wall coverage?

Well, honestly, how many liberals actually believe that Bush was behind 9/11? (Honestly, I don't know.)

Roughly 42% of Democrats, according to a Zogby poll from two years ago...

http://www.911truth.org/images/ZogbyPoll2007.pdf

If you look closely, however, it becomes clears that 9/11 truth isn't solely the province of self-identified progressives and liberals (although they're farther down the rathole). Only very conservative people come across as mostly sane on this issue(ie. 75+% believe the official explanation of 9/11).

There's a difference between having advance knowledge (in this case, sufficient info that wasn't read correctly) and being behind the 9/11 attacks. However I have personally met 1 person who believed that Bush was directly responsible. And 2 people who thought the jews were behind it.

Yet another positioln of Democratics I have never heard a Democrat say. Where are these "pollsters" finding these people??

BTW: Frank: "Madam, trying to hold a conversation with you would be like trying to argue with a diningroom table."

According to Real Clear Politics, fully 35 percent of Democrats believe George W. Bush had advance knowledge of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Fully 28 percent of Republicans believe Barack Obama wasn’t born in the United States.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/art...ics_97748.html
We can easily prove the Administration, all the way up to the President, were informed that there was a terrorist attack in the works, and that it included multiple hijackings. People, being naturally able to put small pieces of information together to create a whole picture, have taken that, with tiny disparate other pieces of info, and created whole conspiracy theory: ranging from our government was behind the attacks to we knew exactly what the attacks were going to be and let it happen anyway.

The truth is far more banal. They didn't think it was going to be that big a deal, maybe one or two planes hijacked and hostages taken. With this kind of threat, the airlines weren't about to allow the Feds to put marshals on all their planes, and the Feds weren't inclined to ask. Ashcroft considered the threat serious enough, however, that he personally stopped flying civilian planes. It wasn't a great conspiracy, it was incompetence and neglect.

Right here, Patty dear. When did you hear and/or read leading liberals support or endorse Code Pink?

Limbaugh, Palin, Hannity, Dobbs, etc. etc., have all been championing one or more aspect of the recent asshattery: birtherism, deatherism, Obama as Nazi, etc. etc.

Did you pay attention to any of the early coverage of Sheehan?

Sometimes I wonder.
I don't know. The town hall crazies are pretty down crazy. The politicians are looking sane in comparison.

Did she get anywhere near as much coverage as the teabaggers?
Yes. Endlessly so.
And she waited quietly outside Bush's ranch. She didn't disrupt public meetings. Oh? You're looking for people that disrupted meetings of public officials? Were you alive for the Bush Admin?
