The Dead Pool was invented as a place for tasteless jokes.

As to Kennedy... Good Senator, bad date.

Drake is a dick. Ted Kennedy is responsible for legislation to make employers pay for the medical bills of employees injured on the job, .
That's not quite true. Workman's Compensation has been around since the turn of the last century. The Virginia workman's compenstion codes that I worked with when I was an occupational physician were written in 1909.

Sorry to see the last of the Kennedy brothers fade from the scene. Supported John, worked for Robert, admired Ted. At least Ted died naturally, with some gray hair to show for a good life. I find it hard to believe that so many here summarize an entire life devoted to a constituency as liberal as he was is actually defined by a single moment of cowardice. Yes, he panicked. Yes, a young woman died. No, his life cannot hope to be summed up by that one moment. :anger:

If you read the accounts from those close to him, it wasn't that one moment that I have a problem with, it's what he did over the next few days. That wasn't spur of the moment, that was premeditated and planned and the true test of his character. Which he obviously failed. Also accounts of some of his activities later in life showed that he didn't really learn from his earlier mistakes.
And since I'm not a liberal, his legislative history didn't impress me either

Regardless of my undisguised opposition to Kennedy and a number of his positions, it can be stated he did at least attempt to work across the aisle (unlike the party today).

Or maybe he was just tired of waiting and getting wet while the kid threw a temper tantrum and said fu*k it! Grab the kid and get on the plane! Yeah, I like that theory better

One of his accomplishments that has withstood the test of time.

In Kennedy's mind, all of these achievements paled next to his long-deferred dream of national health insurance. When President Nixon proposed a plan for universal coverage that would have delighted Democrats in later years, Kennedy, who long backed a government plan, led the opposition, a move he later regretted. So he moved to partial reforms, but even here he was often disappointed. His hopes of a major restructuring were dashed in the early 1990s with the defeat of Bill and Hillary Clinton's health-care initiative.

We usually try to keep politics out of death threads, guys.
How do you avoid the topic of politics when discussing the death and life of a politician?
