Well, I'm still allowed there, and while I don't have anything in particular against the site, I would like to be more involved in excitingly pointless internet drama. Is there some sort of message you'd like me to post there?

If so, hook me up with somebody else's e-mail address, or a fake one. I'm certainly not going to give Dale my actual contact info. This is a very good point. Someone should post that there.

I want to be clear, my post was not a suggestion that people invade another forum.

It was a note that Dale was not here (and can't be here) and that feelings expressed towards him here wouldn't be communicated as well. If there were other forums that he was a regular on that I knew about I would have given them as well.

Jon,

A reasonable person would have read your post the way you intended it. I thought it was obvious.

I'm actually surprised that Sir Ralph (Harovan) misunderstood it.

He's hardly posted here in years. He used to be more active. He was mostly an on-topic poster anyway. Good guy, actually. Not that you'll believe it.

Apparently, Asher once made some sort of joke about Dale PMing Asher stuff about Panda sex. Dale completely lost his **** over it. Deleting Asher's posts, PMing him a death threat... and ultimately being banned and chosing to go help found a new site.

He used to post a decent amount in the Off-Topic and Technology forums.

If he used to be a good guy, he's lost his way with his posts on that site.

So THAT'S what Dale went batshit insane over? I know the details, but I've thought Asher did something more despicable.

Oh, I imagine Dale was already upset because he'd gotten into some arguments with Asher and been needled a bit. I have no idea, but that wouldn't be out of the ordinary. So he's already irritated, and then Asher makes the joke and... kaboom, apeshittery.

No, it doesn't make much sense.

And as we all know, Dan, Ming & Rah are total Asher apologists.

Asher can be a pain in the ass, but hell, he called me a despicable person, which is far more serious than saying I'm a panda "lover." I let it go. Dale should have let it go.

Indeed - Never understood the need to blow up and threaten people in a PM.

I've had my fair share of hilarious web threats of violence, but never death threats.
I was sent a weekend long continual rant fest sent to me by a banned loony once.
Even in my most hate-filled exchanges with utter imbeciles and nutjobs, I have
never seen the point in calling them up in PM and getting personal.

I am mystified as to why anyone would act like that.

Word wars should be settled on the boards.

Word War I was settled with the dueling sides, entrenched in their positions, refusing to give an inch; one vocal thrust after another received a terse report of a retort.
And Word War II was heralded by the rise of the Grammar Nazis.

They might have been evil, but they had the best dictionaries!

Word War III will be fought using mostly unconventional digital weapons, with the Chinese deploying blanket PMs and spam emails and the Americans trying to fight their way through cheap cockpills and smurf nurse porn.
