Not a movie per se, but I recently watched the first Entourage DVD (season 1). HBO strikes again, IMO. Its about a young actor who arrives in Hollywood with his buddy from Queens. On one side, its pretty funny : movie premieres, star-studded parties and babes, babes and even more babes. Lots of cameos, too. At one point, they go to a party at Jessica Alba's house. On the other side its irritating when you see talentless morons being showered with money. But the star of the show, IMO, is Ari Gold, the main character's agent. He's a total a--hole, too.

A scanner darkly: An ok drug movie. It took forever for it to have a point. Cool animation. The plot was meh, but the actors were great. Don't you think so? Especially Robert Downey Jr.? Not sure why, but I noticed for the first time that Winona Ryder has cleavage.

Dracula's Daughter. Very atmospheric, with strong lesbian subtext (especially for the times).

Really fun ending (hopefully) to the trilogy.

I've been watching a lot of movies lately since I can't play computer games.

Obviously from recent posts, you guys should have deduced I have been watching the original 3 star wars movies.

I also watched the second half of Star Trek 5 today. Planet of the Apes (original- like there is any other) and Lord of War.

oh I also watched Lethal Weapon 2 today.

I sure do watch a lot of movies.

I hope Pirates of the Caribean 3 is better than 2. I saw 'Dead man's chest' recently and it sucked.

Rent "The Last King of Scotland" instead. Forrest Whitaker is amazing.

I think I'll go see "The Lives of others" soon. My friends told me its a great movie. It has a score of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes.

I hate posting at the end of a page. It means nobody will read your post...

I saw The Last Samurai recently.
I liked it Tom Cruise was quite good in that film, which probably is a bit rare.

The actual movie went downhill pretty fast though, imo. I mostly was into it during the first part, up until Cruise gets caught by the Samurai.
While the film relied predominantly on some isolated sequences of climax, as in the testing of the untrained soldier, or the samurai distrust of the foreigner, the beginning seemed to be well-crafted with the career-soldier having been pushed to the side as an act for a rifle salesman.

Overall the movie did not manage to be that characteristic as a war film, and was probably very general as a presentation of Japan in the era of its industrialisation, something which would have been more obvious if it was not about a generally alien culture to most.

Having read one book about the Samurai (which of course makes me an expert ) i was not happy to see them as idealised. The caste system in Japan had produced quite a few insane personalities in the Samurai order, and none of them were in this film, where the Samurai leader is depicted as a sort of "noble savage".

showtimes was just showing Reefer Madness today. I missed the first part, but I think I got the gist of it. Perhaps the film would have been better viewing it while high. It wasn't that good, but it was a bit humorous. I always wondered where the lady screaming jumping through a window bit came from.
