Asher, thats horrible, I hope your friend knows not all professing Christians are homophobic or homosexual hate mongers, very sad indeed ![]() Though in particular I was thinking of a friend of mine who was not only disowned by his family (and still hasn't been in touch with them, four years later) but also had a large trust fund taken away. He was genuinely suicidal for months afterwards, he lost not only his family and his home but a lot of trust fund money. Yeah, it was "just money", but to say it was a slap in the face would be an understatement. Gay teen suicide rates are far higher than any other demographic, and the reason for this is the widespread intimidation by a Christian society. I'm really not interested in the inevitable argument that homphobes need not be Christians -- which is true -- but the correlation with Christianity is undeniable. For Ben to say he doesn't see Christian intimidation towards homosexuals is just demonstrating his intense dishonesty or his astounding stupidity. Either way, he doesn't know how offensive his claims are. |

No, I've been bullied throughout my life. So I know very well what bullies do and how they operate. I've never known one gay person who has suffered from Christians. Every gay person who can't marry in your country suffers from Christians. Didn't read the rest because I'm trying to stay in a good mood and not tear you a tenth *******. ![]() |

not to hijack this thread or anything. I just wonder why it's necessary to voicefully show your "approval" of women to show your sexuality among male peers. I have tried to avoid doing this at my current job. Which is why I suspect they think I"m gay or just not interested in sex (though the latter is pretty close to the truth). But I'm one of those guys who actually pays attention to those lame sexual harrassment videos they make you watch during orientation. I take that stuff seriously and don't think it's kind to make suggestive comments about women behind their backs.
I admit I still do it more often than I would like. But it's kind of a male bonding ritual. And I need to fit in with my coworkers. I found out the hard way a couple jobs back what happens when your coworkers hate you. I try to stay on their good side and pretend I'm like them. |
