I miss my Irish friends. They were great enablers. Why are you typing when you could be drinking? Life is too short to go through it smart and sober.

When our company was bought out by a crew across the pond (a London operation), our new CEO was asked to address the troops here and answer questions. One of our black employees asked when we could expect to see more minorities at the upper level of management (since there were currently 0). It's always fun when different cultures get together. Our CEO said that there was already sufficient minority representation at the upper most level since he was Irish. There was dead silence for about 30 seconds. I looked at the person next to me and asked if he had really said that. I though a race riot was going to break out. The VP of personel (once he got over being stunned) leaned over and whispered something into the CEO's ear. THe CEO quickly pretended that his answer had been a joke, but really couldn't pull it off because he really thought that being Irish in London was similar to being black in America.

Well then, it's a good thing I only pigeonholed you on political affiliation, innit?

...see, THAT's racism.
