Let's see what Wikipedia says: MBT T-72B1- 59 T-72M - 75 T-72AB - 71 T-55AM -40 AIFV / APC BMP-1 - 80 BMP-2 - 120 BTR-80 - 75 MT-LB - 64 BRDM-2 - 17 Otokar Cobra - 100 Artillery Towed 2A36 Giatsint-B-12 2A65 Msta-B-18 2A18 (D-30)-120 Self-Propelled 2S7 Pion - 12 2S19 Msta-S - 3 2S3 Akatsiya - 26 VZ 77 Dana - 47 Multiple Launch Rocket Systems M-87 Orkan - 4 RM-70 - 48 BM-21 Grad - 120 LAR-160- 15 M-63 Plamen – 12 Mortars 2B11 120mm - 240 M-38/43 120mm - 365 M75 120mm – 250 Yeah, right. Scary. ![]() Anyway, Russia is not in a position to retaliate. The Georgians haven't attacked our territory yet, so launching an attack against Georgia would be an act of aggression. However, sending some Chechen batallions as "North Ossetian volunteers" would be fun. |

Saakashvilii would never invaded South Osetia. You started that war, 'cause he is your pet frog. As for blaming Russia encourages something, you just have no idea about the history of this conflict. |

Nice how you get mad when your plan to try and gradually annex territories doesn't work out all that smoothly. Peacekeepers shmeacekeepers. Saakashvilli is bombarding South Osetian capital with its Grad MLRS. Source? as are most countries compared to Russia. Hypocrites? Who? I hate all this anger between us. I remember, in Soviet times, neighbors were as family and were duly respected, regardless of occupation or nationality. I'd like to think there existed something positive in those days, no matter what our national differences. Maybe, I hope, we can recreate that experience someday on another level. |

The Soviet Union was a crap hole which couldn't even give bread to its people or toilet paper so they could wipe their asses. Your "people" ran for the door the second they got a chance because it was repressive and life sucked so bad. |

There is a huge difference. Everyone other then Native Americans (Indians) came here from some where else and agreed to give up their old identities freely. That isn't so in Russia. Russian imperialists conquered their land by force and naturally some of them aren't so keen on being Russian and would prefer to maintain their own cultures. You need to stop claiming that there are no minorities in Russia while claiming that every Russian minority in other countries gets to redraw the map for the benefit of greater Russia. You honestly don't understand the double standard here? You don't understand me. By all of the above, I was implying that I liked the Soviet experience, maybe not its political adherent, but we could have made very good of its economic utility. My fault, however, is in finding cultural, ethnic, and historical similarities with a wide array of nationalities and cultures. I'd like to think that Russia, one day, can accept its whole self, rather than just a historical piece. |

of course, however many of these political disputes are because of, or intertwined with, issues of nationalism and ethnic identity. that is to say, there are huge numbers of people in russia who are not russian and do not see themselves as such. to pretend otherwise helps no one in my view. In my view, globalization is, in part, to blame and the ressurgence of previously non-existent nationalisms can be seen as a defense mechanism, in response to the dominance of globalization. Do you agree? |
