If you don't get why all of these things are totally irrelevant you will never understand the show. I thought it was an awesome end to the series - at times funny, at times scary, at times moving, and above all cracking entertainment quite unlike anything else on TV. The Dr speaks the truth

I had a slightly different interpretation that he went mad whilst rescuing Davros...he wouldn't have looked into the time vortex otherwise, from what I have interpreted...

...and we all know that Davros isn't dead
