Default Rev Jackson shows his class again
This was straight out a West Wing episode.

Jesse is a pud and, as it turns out, an idiot. Unbelievable that someone so media-savvy would say something like that in a TV studio. "I didn't know it was a live mic." -- AS IF!!!!!

When your own son repudiates you, you know you've really screwed up.

I assume you're referring to this bit, which I cut from Wikipedia:

On July 6, 2008, during a news interview an open microphone picked up Jackson whispering, "See, Barack's been talking down to black people ... I want to cut his nuts off", in regards to the Democratic presidential candidate, but he later apologized for his remarks and reiterated his support for Obama.

Or has he said something even dumber recently?

I don't see how this could be helpful. As useless as the Rev can be, there are still quite a few blacks that hold him in high esteem and would do anything he asked.

maybe not cut off Obama's balls, but pretty much anything else.

And how about talking down to non-Black people? I suppose that's ok in the view of the Right Moronic Mr. Jackson.. Have you ever seen a black person before in person? I'm just curious.

Rah - amongst white people, this will play well, I think. Jesse Jackson is, as you might know, not terribly well-liked in that particular demographic. Him ripping Obama (for essentially stating the obvious) is a positive. As for black people, the comments I've been seeing online about this are generally along the lines of "I appreciate what Jesse did and all, but gosh he's a bit of a relic at this point."

Kerry got ~90% of the black vote. The idea that Obama could possibly have problems with that constituency is ludicrous.

But for blacks I see it as a bad thing. I heard one black at work say that he heard the rev call Obama an Oreo. (so much for getting the story straight) This is not good, even though I can't see many blacks voting for McCain. But there are still quite a few blacks that worship the REV. Especially here in Chicago. (of course the chance of ILL going red is so long that even vegas wouldn't place odds on it) Point of information on the nuances of the lingo: What precisely is an Oreo?

-Arrian It's not like Obama could somehow not get 99% of the black vote, anyway. He doesn't have to actually please that demographic, he gets it automatically.

The really sad part is how this points to the remaining bigotry still present in America.

American mainstream humor is always making fun of the unrealisticly dumb fictional person so that people forget how real life dumb people are. All the dumb people I know perform the basics in life really well.

How else can the candidates get the message across other than using others to say the things public would be skeptical of if they themselves said it. People would think he is just lying. Endorsements.

Are these insane or forbidden thoughts? Arrian even said it seems really fishy but then said he knows it's not. Rufus said Obama is lucky. Better play it safe than to get ridiculed by poly

Well, how is this for insane, I happen to think when the two parties make fun of each other they are actually propping up each other. Weak on terror "critique" by McSames means if you don't like war nstuff you can vote the rock star instead. The campaing is as staged as the presidential debates.

It's far, far more widespread among blacks. Clinton would never get more than ~70% of the vote among whites; Obama would never get less than 90% among blacks.
