Who pays for the kids that a 16 yearold has? I will tell you that it often isn't the 16 yearold. Who pays for the illnesses?

Young adults aren't held responsible for their choices, especially financially. They don't have to feed themselves, and take care of themselves.

Additionally, there is a reason why they can't enter into contracts/etc. That is because society has mostly decided that they aren't in the position to. If they can't handle the serious issues facing them with contracts, what makes you think that they can face the possibly serious issues facing them with sexual choices or drug choices? Why should they be legally dependent at 16 but sexually independent?

The Canadians are always trolling for sex at the Olympics. Back in 2000 they went to the Sydney games with gear that had "Roots" in big letters on it.

("Root" is Australasian slang for "have sex" and "roots" means "puts out" - the locals were amused).

Apparently:

Canada consistently elevates the cool factor in its Olympic uniforms. And other countries are taking up the torch, she says. "It's just not good enough any more to sew your country's flag on an Adidas windbreaker," says Timmins. No.

There's no excuse for this sartorial Auschwitz. Canada will now be the worst human rights violators at the games.

Nice to see they have a Romeo and Juliet clause in there. Does it apply to homosexual relationships as well or just hetero?

I'm not going to buy the statement that the age where you can reasonably be put in prison is lower than the age you're allowed to screw. They are perfectly allowed to have sex with people their age.

The restriction is only on adults having sex with them.

With the 5 year close in age exemption, I don't see why it couldn't be made to be at 18.

I would also argue that they shouldn't be tried as an adult either until they are 18.
