Yes, we watch old sporting events (but I don't really like sports so I only watch them in the context of family events where everyone else likes them). To be fair old dad got fairly toasty on beer and wine while I only had four beer in 4.66 hours. I ended up driving everyone the 1.5 miles to my dad's house and his girlfriend's mood was not improved by his toasty state.
Still, it is a holiday so I honestly think people should get a free pass as long as they're safe (with a sober driver, etc...) and it is hard to find a sober Scotsmen. __________________ |

I have something to say about the "traditional patriarchal" Easter situation. Yesterday I got up at 6:30am to prepare a leg of lamb, I then got ready for church, put the lamb in the oven and went to church. 3 hours later I came home, took the lamb out, and continued cooking for the next hour until the meal was finally ready. Then, after 20 minutes, I got up from the table and cleaned the kitchen (no small task) and proceeded to make a cake. A couple hours later, I took said cake to my parents where my mother had just finished cooking dinner and after dinner I cleaned her kitchen which was 100 times harder than mine.
I freakin' worked all day! Next holiday I am taking a vacation! ![]() In response to the OP, it's no wonder your dad's girlfriend was pissed. |

Maybe turn this around a bit. You have a family that's there with you on Easter. You have a mother and father that you obviously get along with well enough to have dinner and also share Easter. Not everyone has that Cartimandia. If you don't like it why bother? |

Sorry, I didn't really mean to sound so devastated and upset. It really wasn't an awful day at all. I was just very tired at the end of the day.
I did volunteer to do all that work, and yes, my family gets along very well. They did thank me and I wasn't upset about it. Easter is a very special time in my family, and we love getting together. It's one of the only times when we are all together and able to enjoy each other's company. I am lucky to be a good cook, so a lot is expected from me at our get togethers, but I enjoy it. Plus, I had a solid milk chocolate Cadbury bunny to gnaw on. I ate it's tail first. ![]() |
