I don't have a car anymore. I'm glad I don't. It ties me up. First, you spend money to own it. But you don't really own it because you didn't make it. You paid for it and now you are legally the owner of that thing, but in order to use it, you have to buy gas, that costs whatever it does, depending on current events, politics and economy. Then you have to have a license and obey the traffic laws, which is fine, because otherwise it would be a mess. But you are always subjected to those laws, punishable by what has been defined in those laws. You can't sell it without notification, because you have registered it to your own name. You pay taxes when you buy it and you still think you own the car just because you can smash it if you want to. Then you need a parking space for it, so you have to have someone sell it to you usually, but you don't own that space. You rent it from someone who rents it from someone who rents it from someone who claims they own it.
I'm glad I got rid of that piece of ****. Less worries. In fact I should sell more. It's not like I can really own it anyway. The less property I have, the better. The less tied I am. The less responsible I am to laws and regulations and all kinds of BS surrounding those things. They're just things anyway, things. I can move from point A to B using other methods of transportation just fine, so why did I ever pay so much money to have that junk in my name? So people asked me am I crazy for getting rid of it. Why? Do you REALLY need your car? Some people do need it, but most? I don't think so. They can have it if they want to, but that's their decision. Statistically speaking, most car owners are idiots anyway. That's one reason they get fat and unhealthy and clog the lines in medical treatment. Because they can't be bothered until they're about to die from the disease of their own inability to take move or eat better. Which is in its class of itself. A person dying because they ate too much. And if you really look at it, it's not because they loved the taste of something so they wanted more. Most things taste good if you cook it right, show some effort. It'll most likely be pretty damn good. But these people rarely cook, they just microwave their junk, eat double portion of it until they feel sick and then make up excuses for it. If nothing else, they say well, I have the right to do what I want. That is quite true. No one said you shouldn't Darwinize your own ass. In fact, it is good. Get you off the gene pool it does. |

Pekka is converting to Buddhism!
I haven't had a car in... 5 years now I think. I have access to a car if I really need it, but that's been once or twice a year (and I really didn't need it then either, was just being lazy). But that depends on your situation, some people really do need a car for work/kids/errands. |
