@ Ming: If she didn't have a valid ID in 08, what do you think the odds of her having a valid ID to present to the officer in 06 were?

Now your question about wether she had a valid ID in 2006 is unanswerable. Most likely, it would appear that she did not, but the article does not state either way, so I'm inclined to not assume anything. You may continue to do so if you wish.

Thanks, Donegeal.

The 2006 incident is the one that was potentially a screwup.

My department has a policy that requires everyone issued a traffic citation of this type to be arrested and booked into jail.

Potentially a screwup =! "Police Department kills 4 students by not doing their jobs."

And I still think this was mostly about you whining about illegal immigrants.

You keep saying it's a strawman, yet you harp on the illegal immigrant issue enough that it gives me reason to believe it's more accurate than you claim.

But ok, I'll drop it it and simply say that I agree with Donegeal's department's policy. If the woman was unable to present ID that was reasonably valid-looking (obviously it wouldn't have actually been valid) to the cop who let her go in 2006, that was a screwup. We don't know for sure, but it seems likely.

I remember that thread, which shouldn't be surprising since I actively participated in it.

I failed to ask for your position on immigration, which in retrospect is odd. Perhaps my impression of you being knee-jerk anti-immigrant developed after that thread. Of course, my first question in that thread remains valid despite your response, and is one possible reason that someone might get the wrong idea about you...
