So I figure the only thing we can realistically do is to try to fix some of the problems, these negative problems this thing creates within EU. So it's basically just reacting to problems... is this a good plan? No. This isn't even a plan. But like we've discussed, what can you realistically do? I don't see any single or combination of ways to remedy this. Stricter police control will do little good, so that’s only a little step and a uncomfortable one at that. Perhaps we could finance the construction of factories in North Africa... we would have to lower some of our standards concerning human rights and labor rules, but these factories together with laxer immigration laws in those countries could take some pressure off us and they would experience some economic growth because of it... I suppose with proper legislation to encourage profitable investments in this direction could work in combination with direct political pressure on those countries to accept the China style slave- ehh I mean cheap labor. This would be more realistic, this time truly neo-colonialist but It could work, we would have to lower our ethical standards to those employed by other powers. I could rational that in an illegal workshop in Europe they wouldn’t be much better off. |

What my second proposal in fact about is that we turn those countries into little replicas of China, little obedient ones. In essence I’m proposing to replace the illegal factories we have in Europe with ones built with our capital in North Africa and making them legal there, this way there will be less pressure from unskilled labor on Europe, and we’ll get some fresh taxes from our corporations, who would own the factories. The dirty jobs we really need done here can be more or less filled with existing lower classes. Now if that isn't pragmatic I don’t know what is... Anyway the NA leaders will see or be made to see this is in their best interest … PS I do consider this plan unethical, but such is the way of politics… PS Don't American corporations control some similar sites near the US border in Mexico? EDIT Just noticed Africa in you're response. My first proposal was about helping them, the one you commented was about exploting them. ![]() |
