Default Norman Mailer dies at 84
Go out and read "The naked and the dead" immediately. It's an extraordinary book.

As is "The Executioner's Song" -- a masterpiece.

But he hadn't written anything worth reading in almost thirty years, and was basically a blustering irrelevence dining out on his celebrity notoriety while watching Philip Roth, of all people, become the actual "heavyweight champion of postwar American letters."

Still, RIP.
