Actually, I can't understand the criticism of Bush's reaction to knowing about 9/11. It was one of the very few occasions where I had the impression that he was actually thinking.

9/11 would shock me also. I blame him a lot more for what he did after then what he didn't do that day.

Bush administration says the crew of the carrier wanted the sign, in part because they were coming home and it was mission accomplished for the crew, but also because major combat had ended in Iraq. (so they thought etc)
