Default The Miners Trapped In Cave-In
Can't we figure out a way to do this mechanically already? Sheesh...

(I mean mining, not rescuing. Rescuing too, though. )

Three rescue workers were killed last night by a mountain "bump". A shift in the mountain that forces coal and debris to cave in.

Kerry Allred was a family friend. He was one of the six who were trapped.
It's time we say goodbye and leave prayers for his family, and the families of the other miners who have been lost.

RIP

Coal is so 19th century. Its easily replacebale. So why the hell do we keep using it? Its bad in everyway. It has no advantages aside from the fact that its a source of energy...BUT, its easily replaceble.

Coal sucks.

To the OP, what a bummer. Hope many survived.

As was noted, it's a mechanical effort for the most part.
Miners are there to shore walls and ceilings, and keep the machines running smoothly.
From what I know, mining and trucking are the major employment in Utah.
Playful has a brother in mining. He works a different mine. That's how the Allred's are known. Fellow miners.

That whole thing is so sad. I worked 6 months in a gold mine back home and there's things that a machine just can't do. You do need to have people there.
There were some cave ins @ the mine where i worked (Doyon) over the years but i don't recall loss of life because of it.
