Default Which academic discipline do you respect the most?
Respect?

As long as it's something useful to society, I respect it:

Biology
Chemistry
Computer Science
Economics (sort of!)
Engineering
Mathematics
Medicine
Physics
Psychology (sort of!)

How the bobbins can mathematics be more respected than medicine?

Medicine is a cornerstone of civilisation that brings hope to billions. Mathematics is ****ing with numbers.

Medicine is a cornerstone of civilisation that brings hope to billions. Mathematics is ****ing with numbers. The question is academic discipline, not what they do outside of school.

Hardcore mathematics (that you get from people who study mathematics) is probably the hardest field out there. Medicine is much easier to study, by comparison.

Perhaps you did not understand the question.

In your attempt to be funny you've basically outlined why it's not head and shoulders above the others. Medicine isn't very academically rigorous, it's more of a test of massive memorization.

Laz is a brilliant troll. But he lacks the passion, unfortunately. He could be the greatest, but he needs passion.

See? Now that's old-school. You just don't see such blatant attempts to make stuff up these days.

Would you really want to lose one? If you really wouldn't want to lose one, and this is just theory, how could you rank them at all?

Are they studying to be your typical GP / ER Doc (not rigorously academic) or are they performing research?

The latter could quality, the former should not.
