Giggles... Do you think I go around town listening to MPR? Maybe 0.1% of the time. Most of the time is eurodance. It teaches me how to say na na na na na in a melodious voice. That's why I lack many linguistic skills and do not know what mar and slug are. ![]() And what did you mean by wise decisions, please? Do you see any "wise" as appellation near my name? ![]() Rice party? Giggles... Hmm are you a cannibal? I read I think in the Sindbad the Sailor (and 1001 nights) that some cannibals fed their prospective food (people) with rice, prior to eating them.... uuuuuu I am so scared of you now... It is a joke. P.P.S I read in the thread of homeschooling some real true praise for you (and my oh my! you were just 2 months old!!!). That wisdom you got it, therefore you do know everything needed to know. Bratislav was sooooo right and I am so glad I read that and learned that since 2 mos old you were that knowledgeable in the Sophia tou Theou. Wisdom and me are antonyms. If there's anything useful in what I say, it's the work of my brilliant teacher. As for me, St Isaac describes me perfectly: Solutioooons! Solutioooons! Mary and Mike are going back to school because they miss it! ![]() In my college engineering courses, whenever we had to do the same kind of estimation you used (extrapolating from a small sample measurement), getting within a factor of two was usually considered acceptable (so, answers from 14,500 to 58,000 grains would have been OK, meaning your answer passed! ![]() How is it that it's possible to measure how much steel dents when a fly sits on it, and it's just as acceptable to make such a wild estimate that 10x more or 10x less is acceptable!?! ![]() |

And can you sing na na na na na na na with hemidemisemiquaver notes? My musical husband didn't even know that word, although he knew the note. I guessed what it was, but it was such a fun word! And of course, once we knew what it was, we had to hear what it sounded like. And my husband searched around and found the Flight of the Bumblebee on YouTube and that's definitely got a whole bunch of hemidemisemiquavers in it! See? Free rice works! ![]() ...you're wise decision to STOP playing free rice! Umm! Actually that was a rhetorical question. ![]() Also stop using the word wise. You know we live near NYC. ![]() That reminds me, we were at a wedding dinner and they had stuffed chicken breast on the menu and we were wondering how they stuffed the chicken, because we could see no cuts in the meat. We decided they must've fed the chickens all the things they wished to stuff it with and killed it before it had a chance to digest... So, I guess, you're right. I'm a cannibal! Giggles... this is so great! However sorry to disappoint you but the book explained that rice was not for stuffing only, but to fatten people and fast, because cannibals preferred that. Who's Sophia? Is she a member of monachos? I haven't met her yet, so I have no knowledge of her. ![]() Oh, Bratislav! I love him too. He's the brother I always wished I had and didn't know I'd ever find. Thanks for bringing up his name. My heart warms up everytime I think of him. Now now. I never said I love Bratislav (I do not know him-just from your words), but I said that he is so right in his evaluation about you. However I know from your words that he is a very nice person and that he is a very worthy brother in Christ. And even more worthy because he confirmed my words and some others'. Actually, since I've always been stubborn and foolish I never liked being told what to do, and because I was forced me to go to school, I didn't like to learn. Hmm there are some great men I read about that did not like going to school. I thought engineering required accuracy! I'm so glad I studied something with no right answers! It would've driven me nuts to work with numbers and be right whatever answer you got!! ![]() Many, many, many thanks to the moderators who combined my two 'educational' threads! and changed the title!! Looks so much nicer this way! Eeeww! I am not coming to this thread again because my vocabulary is built long time ago and I am better than this. ![]() P.S I had many more smilies in my message to indicate some tone, however I had to reduce them to 6. |

But Stuart, why is it that you haven't posted your wins and loses? Is it out of humility or pride? |

Neither humble nor proud. Just sporadically and periodically play it. I'll play it right now and tell you my score....still playing just noticed they donate 20 grains now instead of 10...Score 140 (Would have been 70 previously) effete = decadent. I am not a master with words by any stretch. I just try and look for a root in the given word and work it from there. As for Scrabble, I did score 520ish once...but that was some nice tiles and well placed 2 and 3 letter words...XI, XU, QAT, SUQ for those of you looking for small words with tough letters...If you can get the Xi or Xu on a triple letter both ways with ax or ox, you're getting a chunk of points. XI? XU? QAT? SUQ? Must not be English!!! Surely, I know every word there is in English! ![]() They're doing 20 grains now? So when I lost at 80, I only got four words right?! Oh Bummer! And there I was thinking I'd managed to get past 5 rounds before hitting a wall! And it should've been a word I knew, because it describes me perfectly: EXCURSIVE - rambling... ![]() |

There are over 29,000 grains of rice in one pound (based on long grain white rice). And at the rate that I'm playing, it'll take forever to get that many! ![]() I've been in search of a word since yesterday. A perfect word to describe how I'm feeling... actually, I felt it more yesterday than I do today, but it's still there underneath! After Divine Liturgy, it started to grow in me. It was a kind of excitement, only it wasn't wild and it didn't drive me restless. It seemed to slow things down around me, and I was very aware of everyone, what they were doing and saying, and I was totally happy just being together. I felt like I'd been given my life to live over again, and I was starting out as a child. There was nothing to worry about, no plans to make, no future to save for, no one to dislike, no one to distrust, nothing to ponder, nothing to figure out, only the present to deal with, and it was good! Now How can I put all that into one word? Would an 'AA' work? ![]() |
