92-year-old homeowner shoots, kills intruder
VERONA, Ky. - — One man is dead and two more are behind bars after an attempted home invasion Monday morning.

Police said a man broke into the basement and entered the first floor of a Boone County home in the 15000 block of Violet Road in Verona just after 2 a.m.
The homeowner, Earl Jones, 92, was awakened by a noise in his basement and grabbed his .22 caliber rifle. When the intruder came through the door from the basement, Jones fired a shot, police said.
Jones immediately called his neighbor, who then called 911. When deputies arrived, they said they found the outside basement door ajar but no one other than Jones at the home.
Police say the wounded intruder was carried off by two other accomplices. They say those accomplices, Ryan Dalton and Donnie Inabnit, put him in their car and took off. They got about a mile when they stopped on Courtney Road to call 911.
When Kenton County Police responded to the call they found a deceased male, along with Dalton and Inabnit in a 2001 Chevrolet Impala. The deceased male has been identified as Lloyd (Adam) Maxwell, 24 of Richmond, Kentucky.
Dalton and Inabnit were taken to the Boone County Sheriff's Office for questioning. Police said they admitted they were involved in the burglary on Violet Road.

Nobody got the story because they hauled @$$ before the Bacon boys showed up.

All we know is he had a entrance wound with no exit when we did the Xray a 22 caliber slug was sitting right in the middle of his spine directly in the heart shadow. He also couldn't move his legs and kept saying I can't feel anything from the waist down.

Its appears the fast life caught up with him ....it was pretty sad because he had a huge tattoo of his daugther on his chest. No more walks in the park with baby....his quality of life just dropped off 90%

The CCI 22lr quiet round is very quiet. About the same or less than an air driven nail gun. Great practice round with a decent level of punch. The only drawback is you have to manually eject the round if your action is semi auto. If you want to practice some 22 shooting, and noise is an issue, definitely check it out.

Don't overlook the powderless (primer fired only) 20 grain load.

Have a older marlin M-99 M1 about the same grade as yours with a BSA 3-9 on it. Marlin makes/made some very good ones

The key here is 'made' as in past tense. Since the money-grubbin' 'Freedom' Group acquired Marlin (and the rest) quality has radically dropped, especially for Marlin since they closed the century old Marlin plant in New Haven and moved Marlin production to the Remington plant*.

*and now of course those the new hosed up Marlins are rightfully called 'Rem-lins'
