Associated Press

LINWOOD — Three of the four southern New Jersey football players killed in a car crash last summer tested positive for chemicals found in marijuana.
The Press of Atlantic City obtained toxicology reports after filing an Open Public Records Act request with the New Jersey State Police.
Drug tests showed THC and carboxy in the blood of 17-year-old driver Casey Brenner and teenage passengers Edgar Bozzi and Dean Khoury.
Eight Mainland Regional High School players were in the vehicle when it crashed on the Garden State Parkway in August 2011. They were on their way to a team breakfast following the last practice of the summer.
The newspaper quoted an expert unaffiliated with the investigation who said the levels of those substances found in the bloodstream could lead to impairment.

Teenagers have the highest death rates in car crashes whether they are smoking pot or not.

The markers found showing marijuana use can be in the body for up to 30 days. So if they had smoked a joint at a party lets say 25 days ago they would still show positive for marijuana... Unless there was evidence such as a half smoked joint or bowl in the car I don't see how they can associate the use of pot in the accident. But it does make it easier to get slave labor,,, er I mean prisoners to make money for our prisons for profit system we have here in the states! I am sure you know this,, but the good ole USA has more prisoners per capita than any OTHER so called civilized nations1

Whats your point, OP?

And yet tens of millions of responsible Americans drive safely every single day with Cannabis in their systems.

I have a feeling we won't be seeing any news reports on this....

In the article it said in their blood. Blood tests are good for 12 to 24 hours previous. Pee tests are good for 30 days. A chronic smoker of pot shouldn't have any remnants in his bloodstream after 24 hours of non-use.

If you ever know you are going to be tested for pot use, insist on a blood test and stay clean for a couple days before hand and you should pass.

I beg to differ - it may affect the price of Silver Haze, Super Silver Haze, Silver Surfer, Silver Blue and of course Silver Pearl. And if I may go out on a limb here but it could affect the price of Acapulco Gold, Pot of Gold, and Malawi Gold. At least locally.

Call your AG and request a look see if price gouging is occurring.

I wonder how many LEGAL drugs were in their system?
I am NOT a pot smoker but I know for a fact it is far less worse than ANY "legal" drugs they hook young people on

did the toxicology report say anything about any other prescription drugs? football players get injured all the time...i bet he had a 'scrip for perks at the very least...

take a few of those, and you shouldn't be driving in a video game let alone a real car.

as most of you here know, i enjoy the greener things in life, lol

and like the man said...

I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me.

but in all reality, some people simply shouldn't do drugs.

This only shows that they used cannabis within the last 30-90 days of the crash. Basically it's a worthless statement.

sorry, but you're wrong about that. If they had cannibals in the their blood, they injested within the last 12 hours. See post #6.

A pee test will confirm use back 30 days, but the article said their blood was tested.

How Long Does Marijuana Stay in the Body?

How Marijuana Is Metabolized
The active ingredient in marijuana -- Tetrahydrocannabinol or delta-9-THC or simply THC -- enters the body's bloodstream rapidly after smoking marijuana. If marijuana is ingested, rather than smoked, it takes longer to be absorbed into the blood, usually from 20 minutes to an hour and a half.

But THC is detectable in the blood for a short time, usually a few hours, because it is rapidly metabolized into molecules known as metabolites. At least 80 different metabolites are formed from THC. These metabolites are stored in body fat and are gradually eliminated from the body through feces and urine.
