Default Vista and folder view
Yes, I believe it is possible to save the preferred folder view settings... though I'm at work and can't quickly look at it to see exactly where, I know that I've done it on my computer at home.

But how to do it in XP? The only way I could find was in folder options using the "apply to all folders" button, but that one worked like... never

it only applies to folders of the same type, though. So if you set the settings for a "Pictures and Videos" folder, it won't alter and "Documents" or "All Items" folders. There should be an option for this to apply to ALL folder types, I don't care if it's video or pictures or documents or just random files, they should all be listed using list view

Already done that a thousand times, I always do this for video folders, but next time I create a new video folder it automatically goes back to default
